Apparently, there is such a thing. The California legislature passed a bill that would have required religious organizations to bow down before the leftist state. Governor Jerry Brown vetoed it.
AB 569 “would have prohibited churches, religious colleges, religious non-profit organizations, and pro-life pregnancy care centers from having faith-based codes of conduct with regard to abortion and sexual behavior.”
Remember when the progressive left used to be against “legislating morality?” Doesn’t seem like that long ago, does it?
It boggles the mind that, by California standards, Jerry Brown is a voice of reason.
He vetoes this bill AND the campus sexual assault bill because it violates due process. Did the man have a stroke? Is there a Republican wearing a Jerry Brown Halloween mask around the CA capital building? Is the apocalypse coming? What is going on.
The Left has *always* been about legislating morality as practised by the Church of Secular Humanism. You make a good point. Perhaps Progressives should be reminded of it. Often.
You’d think one would be more supportive of Gov. Brown’s decision in their language.
So a guy does 99,999 things wrong and we should praise him for one thing right? Does it matter if he does the right thing for the wrong reason?
#4 – Hey, al-Cray-da: Adolf Hitler was a vegetarian who loved puppies and painted splendid artwork. Should we be more supportive of him?
Checkmate.

#6 wins the thread!!
He knew Gorsuch would have been vote #5 in overturning it. That’s the only reason he vetoed it.
