This Past Weekend, Summarized

On Saturday, a Republican Senator was violently assaulted by a Democratic-Socialist who broke five of his ribs. Then, on Sunday, an atheist who was able to illegally purchase a gun because a bumbling Federal bureaucrat failed to put his name in the NICS database shot up a church full of Christians. In response, a bunch of progressives who think hashtags (#BringBackOurGirls) will solve all the worlds problems went on Twitter to sneer at Christians who were praying for the victims. Oh, and the progressives went on to screeched that there are too many dangerous people with guns, and at the same time accused anyone who wants to carry a gun for self protection of being a paranoid loon.

Pretty much it, right?

  1. I believe in gun control: No guns to be sold to anyone on the Left.

And there would be nothing racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, age-ist, able-ist, or anything-ist about this new rule. The only thing the rule would be against is basically people with emotional problems who cannot keep those regulated like normal adults. And that’s pretty much all the Left.

  2. At least the wobbly kneed establishment Republicans are on notice to keep their tendency to collaborate with Democrats over our 2nd Amendment rights under control or face expulsion from public office. It’s been a year and had to take a year but at least the Republicans understand who won the election now. We The People, not the grand old party.

It is a matter of mental illness, these copycat mass murder things. But what are you going to do about the hundreds of thousands of psychotics out there that haven’t hit the radar.

  4. Here’s an idea: people with felony convictions or other circumstances that make it illegal for them to possess firearms should have a “scarlet letter” on their IDs (might look like a no guns allowed sign).

Anyone (including individuals) selling a gun to someone has to look at the ID and no sale if the scarlet letter appears. Ditto for ammo.

Of course it wouldn’t be long until leftists started whining about the stigma attached to the scarlet letter and how certain groups of people tend to have letters more often than other groups; and how the psychotic are discriminated against.

  6. “Pretty much it, right?”
Nope. But it seems the conservative head nodding circle jerk continues.

“Federal bureaucrat failed to put his name in the NICS database”
Nope. Bureaucracy has nothing to do with him not being on a list. Any fool should know this as the Air Force has its own legal codes.

The solution? A national gun registry that can be checked and rechecked.

    “sneer at Christians”

You’re trying play the victim again? LOL…Nope.
“Thoughts and prayers” do nothing. National gun control fixes to that the problem.

    “Rand Paul”
Conservatives are politicizing neighbor disputes now? I mean…..they were arguing over plants….so…Nope.

What do Stephen Paddock, Patrick Kelley, Dylan Roof, Syed Farook & Omar Mateen all have in common?

All were 2nd Amendment purists and could have been stopped by tougher gun laws

  7. mike- murder is illegal yet people murder. People drive trucks down bike paths running people down which is illegal.

People cheat on their taxes, buy and sell drugs outside of legal channels, drive stoned, and spit on the sidewalk.

When people have no morals and no sense of right and wrong, no amount of law, short of total police state, will fix it.

Nations with virtual gun bans, Mexico and Australia come to mind, still have gun crime.

What you lefties want is confiscation. Be honest about it. And good luck with the tyranny needed to try to make that word.

What about my scarlet letter suggestion? And, yes, gov’t screwed up again: dishonorable discharge is regarded as a felony conviction. That should have been in national database checked by gun dealers.

  8. The national gun registries set up in Britain and Australia were never used to “fight crime,” but they did facilitate the gun confiscation laws that were passed later.

Similarly, the city of Washington DC established gun registration in the 1970’s, but again, the registry was never used in the investigation of a single homicide. Similarly, the state of Maryland established a database with the “ballistic Fingerprint” of every gun sold in that state that was also never used to solve a single homicide.

Here’s an interesting fact. In 2010, 48,000 people were caught trying to illegally purchase firearms through their background check. The Obama Administration prosecuted exactly 44 of them.

And in the city of Chicago… whose politicians claim that all of their “gun violence” is caused by people illegally purchasing and transfering weapons from out of state… the city, as a matter of policy, does not prosecute people for illegally selling guns, claiming it’s too hard to secure convictions.

All of which is quite interesting.

  9. Any fool should know this as the Air Force has its own legal codes.

    Fact Check:

Under federal law, his conviction disqualified him from legally possessing a firearm. But there was an apparent breakdown in getting information about his conviction to the proper federal database.

“Initial information indicates that Kelley’s domestic violence offense was not entered into the National Criminal Information Center database by the Holloman Air Force Base Office of Special Investigations,” said Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek in an email.

Apparently, the fool is you, mikey.

  10. The Left equates prayer with a child saying “Abracadabra”- but don’t seem to realize that the various “common sense” gun laws they propose would have been just as effective at stoping the various tragedies they are in reaction too.

“Hey, you can’t have an immortal authority who knows what you’re doing at all times, and punishes you for seemingly absurd crimes! That’s the government’s job!”

  12. if people think there are a lot of murders without gun control, think about how many there have been with gun control. communist china, communist Russia, Nazi Germany, today’s Venezuela to mention a few places. people need to have the right to bear arms to protect themselves from the kind of politicians that people like little letter mike like. that is why the 2nd amendment was added to the constitution before the founding fathers would ratify it.

    Comment by Sean L — November 7, 2017 @ 9:41 am - November 7, 2017

  15. We already have “national gun control.” Under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (a federal law, so it applies in all 50 states), it is illegal for convicted felons to own firearms (of any kind) or ammunition. The law also prohibits gun ownership by people convicted of domestic violence (whether it was a felony or misdemeanor); veterans who have less-than-honorable discharges from the military; people who are legally insane or incompetent; fugitives; illegal immigrants; minors; and people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness that might make them dangerous to themselves or others.

A national gun registry would allow confiscation of guns from people who bought them legally (i.e., sane, law-abiding adults). It would not prevent criminals from getting weapons, and it would not aid in tracing guns used in crimes, since it could only trace them to the last legal owner.

A national data base of persons legally barred from owning guns would be helpful, but not if incompetent bureaucrats forget to add convicted felons to the list.

A “scarlet letter” on ID cards might be helpful, but, as noted at #4, liberals would oppose it, for the same reason that Chicago and the Obama administration seldom prosecuted criminals who committed crimes with guns, or criminals who tried to illegally buy guns.

On a related note, California is abolishing mandatory sentences for crimes with guns, because a disproportionate percentage of muggers and carjackers look like Obama’s hypothetical son.

Speaking of Omar Mateen, he was observed behaving suspiciously by his co-workers, but they were afraid to say anything, because they feared being accused of Islamophobia. After Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS and committed mass murder, the director of the Human Rights Campaign said that Mateen had been “taught to hate by a preacher on Sunday morning.”

Mateen attended a mosque (not a Christian church) that had ties to terrorists, but the Obama administration blocked the FBI from investigating it.

And Syed Farook was an anchor baby who visited the Middle East before returning to the US. His wife, Tashfeen Malik, was an immigrant who obtained a visa even after posting anti-American, pro-jihad comments online.

Both were observed behaving suspiciously at home, and he was behaving suspiciously at work, but employers and neighbors were (once again) afraid to report it because of political correctness and dhimmitude.

The couple then murdered unarmed victims in a designated gun-free zone, with illegally acquired weapons, in a blue state that has strict gun laws.

The MSM said that the motive was not clear, but that the murder scene was “only a few blocks away from a Planned Parenthood clinic.” (The actual distance turned out to be 1.5 miles.)

And the Obama administration responded to the tragedy by calling for more gun control (keep doing the same thing over and over and hope for a better result next time); promising to increase unvetted Muslim immigration; and threatening to take “action” against anyone who said anything that could be interpreted (or misinterpreted) as “anti-Muslim rhetoric.”

    Welcome to Bizarro World.

And now, after the tragedy in Texas (which, BTW, was stopped by a good guy with a gun), Obama called for “steps” to stop the violence “and weaponry in our midst.”

I like James Woods’ response. He suggested that Obama ask his boss Soros to stop funding Antifa.

  18. I have an idea that would be win win. In addition to adding in a mark for criminals or etc that can’t buy guns, Allow a small square on id to be for self expression.

There would be multiple options allowed such as a US flag, rainbow flag, rainbow flag with a Big C for Conservative, pictures of Che, Marx, or Washington, planned parenthood logo, breast cancer ribbon…. make it trendy to get something on it like people do for their facebook frame. Look at me I support SJW BS option #1.

It would be win for Leftists as they like nothing better than BS trendy labels and stuff to virtue signal with.

It would be a win for everyone else as gun sellers and everyone could identify them as a-holes immediately. Patriots could get a US Flag symbol, george washington, a military symbol if eligible, or make a donation and get a NRA symbol.

  19. mike,

I have a homework assignment for you.

Explain how a national gun registry would have prevented this church shooting.

What law – or combination of laws – would have prevented this crime?

How would these laws be enforced?

How would these laws have prevented this crime?

use small words, I’m a conservative after all.

  20. We continue to learn disturbing details about the perpetrator of Sunday’s massacre, including a brand new detail. So here’s the updated and revised narrative in dialogue form:

Rational people: It’s not a gun issue, it’s a mental health issue.

Lefties: Of course it’s a gun issue, you ignorant f*cktards!

Rational people: No, it’s a mental health issue. He even escaped from a mental health institution, for Gaia’s sake!

Lefties {increasingly raised voice and flushed faces}: It’s still a gun issue, you stupid hillbilly redneck a**holes! We need universal background checks, bump stock bans, and [other stuff to be slipped in legislation at a future time]! Thoughts and prayers are not enough! When are we going to do something?!

Rational people {stepping back and walking away}: Like we said, it’s a mental health issue.

Oct: Registered Dem kills 60 at country music concert
Nov: Atheist kills 27 attending Baptist Church

This country is already embroiled in a civil war, but only one side is participating yet.

The good news is Marxists marxmanship:

Anders Breivik required 121 shots to kill 77
Bernie Bro at GOP ball field fired 50+ rounds 0 kills
Copenhagen moslem attack had 200 rounds fired with only one dead that was not the cartoonist target

@8 – VtK – could it be that we both read the Second City cop blog? The (Dem-controlled) justice system often lets people caught illegally holding firearms walk (in the name of social justice). From what I’ve read, this is a sore spot for Chiraq cops and one of this blogger’s hobbyhorses.
