Unintended Consequences

November 21, 2017 by V the K

When the Democrat-Media Complex launched their attack on Roy Moore, do you think they ever imagined it would come back to bite Al Franken, Charlie Rose, and Glenn Thrush?

Still waiting for Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell to demand that Al Franken resign, but I’m not holding my breath.

    Bwahhahhahhahhahhah!

Liberal Gods with feet of clay…and muddy footprints that leave a trail of slime.

Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. This image’s head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
    – (Daniel 2:31-33)
    …
And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
    – (Daniel 2:41-43)

Franken will try to weather it out.

I’m very happy Rose imploded. Dim bulb self-righteous freak that he is.

The Democrats don’t care. They don’t care who gets thrown under the bus as long as someone, anyone, comes forward because, “#metoo”, and make accusations against Trump that will get him impeached.
Why else do you think, #metoo, is a thing now? And not 2 or 5 or 10 years ago?

Al Franken will be gently (or not) eased out behind the scenes. He doesn’t realize that yet, but as someone pointed out online, he’s easily replaceable in the Gopher State: either with one of several DFL women or, as also floated online, with the DNC Vice Chair, Keith Ellison [the first openly Muslim US Senator?]. There are few US Senators more replaceable than Senator Fish Lips, which is the unfortunate position of being relatively low on the seniority totem pole and being elected primarily based on name recognition as opposed to experience. Next year he can go to the Minnesota State Fair as a civilian and squeeze as many arse cheeks as he wants and few will notice.

Mitt & Mitch don’t have to demand that Stuart Smalley resign; there are enough Dems (and many MN GOPers) doing that for them. When the opposition implodes, get out of the way and let them finish the task on their own.

Charlie Rose is a more complicated case; though known for being a prima donna with a volatile temper, he wasn’t quite on the level of Bill O’Reilly (no eponymous merchandise or books constantly being hawked on his programs) and still a gifted interviewer who stepped out of the way and let his subjects tell their stories. I will miss him when I partake of network morning programming, as he is the least annoying host of the Big Three male morning anchors, as well as the only one with solid journalism experience.

Glenn Thrust [thanks, Bruce] is easily expendable and having thoroughly embarrassed his current employer, he will soon get the opportunity to wear his fedora for an online news source yet-to-be-determined, but it won’t have anything to do with the White House Briefing Room.

    Hi V the K,
Why pick Moore? He is one more case in a list of many. Moore was just one piece of that puzzle. Remember Weinstein was BIG before Moore. I think it started shifting when The Tape was released and we elected a bragging self-congratulatory serial sexual assaulter (according to his own words) DT as President. I think that is probably more of the impetus for some women coming forward against some men of power.

Cas: locker room talk ‘tween bros != sexual assault.

Given the avalanche of allegations against elites (pols, Hollywood, Big Media) of all political stripes, ever get the idea that our elites are pretty low class?

    Hi KCRob,
Yes, that is DT’s talking point. If it didn’t have 15 or so women offering their accounts of how that wasn’t just locker room talk, I would be inclined to agree with you. However, when most folks here, call out Al on this, they should call DT out for worse than this! But they don’t and won’t. As I have said elsewhere, doing the right thing ethically is not the smart thing to do politically. Circle the wagons and wait for public opinion to be taken off on some new outrage. “Squirrel!”

And I agree with you–wealth does not mean that you are a good person or have any real class at all–you have power though! This was a point that Adam Smith hammered in his book Theory I noticed that Congress is starting to squirm a bit. Conyers today, a democrat tomorrow … But not to fear–settling an accusation for cash is a time honored way to make these sorts of problems disappear–for the wealthy.

    Hi V the K,

I grew up listening to Rose’s interviews when he had his own show. I truly loved it. Often quite fascinating hour of television. It was my “Must-See TV” in early college. So, I have to concur with RSG’s reaction.

Today’s news is quite sad. Someone whom I respected has turned out to be a creepy old guy who preys on women. I feel bad for the women he assaulted and I’m glad they stepped forward. I hope more men who have committed the same acts continue to get outed, regardless of which side of the political divide they reside.

    Sincerely,
    CCP

    Hi Hanover,
I am happy to engage you, but you have to offer something to engage with. I do get the idea that you like asserting your “liar” claim, but if you can’t offer evidence together with a rational argument(s) to make your case, than you are acting in a lazy fashion. I apologize for speaking with you in this way, but I do take evidence and rational argument seriously, even if apparently, you do not.

    @ #8 Cas claims:

If it didn’t have 15 or so women offering their accounts of how that wasn’t just locker room talk, I would be inclined to agree with you.

    Bring on the list.

15 or so names and affidavits of women who say Trump grabbed them in the crotch.

The court of public opinion feeds off the decaying rot of salacious gossip. But, Trump is well known for his “put up or shut up” response to those who try to smear him.

It should be no particular problem to prove the claim if Trump just hauled off and grabbed a woman’s crotch. How often does Trump have the opportunity to go off on a snatch grabbing foray on his own?

So, Cas brings it here as 15 or so women offering their accounts and I am challenging Cas to confirm the number of women, name them and produce the accounts.

Meanwhile, isn’t it passing strange that the hostile media hasn’t nailed Trump as a sex predator? Or maybe it is quite clear that if you kick The Donald, you had best kill The Donald because he fights back. Big time.

Now, it seems to me, that if The Donald fights back Big Time and that causes his accusers to clam up, why wouldn’t Clinton have done the same thing?

Libel and slander and salacious gossip seems to stick like tar and feathers on some people and not on others. Perhaps the liars get a clear message of who will come back at them with a crushing vengeance and who can not defend the indefensible.

The clock starts now on Cas. Tick, tick, tick. Don’t hold your breath, because Cas is all talk and no facts.
