There Are Very Stupid People in California with Too Much Money

Our genius (Party of Science) social betters are paying $100+ per gallon to drink dirty unfiltered water, I am not making this up.

In San Francisco, “unfiltered, untreated, unsterilized spring water” is selling for as much as $60.99 for a 2.5 gallon jug. Startups dedicated to untreated water are popping up. People — including startup Juicero’s cofounder Doug Evans — are gathering gallons of untreated water from natural springs to bring to Burning Man.

They are doing this because an idiot ersatz guru told them that water containing e. coli was healthier for them because it contained life. Again, I am not making this up.

The founder of Live Water, Mukhande Singh, started selling spring water from Opal Springs in Culver, Ore., three years ago, but it was a small local operation until this year. Marketing materials show Mr. Singh (né Christopher Sanborn) sitting naked and cross-legged on a hot spring, his long brown hair flowing over his chest… [F]or Mr. Singh, the goal is not pristine water, per se. “You’re going to get 99 percent of the bad stuff out,” he said. “But now you have dead water.”

He said “real water” should expire after a few months. His does. “It stays most fresh within one lunar cycle of delivery,” he said. “If it sits around too long, it’ll turn green. People don’t even realize that because all their water’s dead, so they never see it turn green.”

I really hope Darwinian Evolution is paying attention to this.

  1. The vicinity of Berkeley, CA, got triggered earlier this morning.

By a 4.4 earthquake (first estimated to be 4.5, then corrected).

Glad it didn’t get any worse for the people over there.

They have enough other problems already — which have nothing to do with their geography…

  2. “I really hope Darwinian Evolution is paying attention to this.”

And I really hope posterity will not judge the Slaughtered-Golden-Goose-State as harshly as I am afraid it very well could, eventually.

  3. There’s nothing wrong with E. coli per se. Indeed, the human gastrointestinal system is supposed to contain E. coli. However, the strains of E. coli and other microbes that make up the microflora of the human gut have had tens of thousands of years of evolutionary pressure to eliminate toxin-producing proteins from their genomes, as well as antigens, genes that code for proteins that trigger an immune response from our bodies. Over a long period of time, the E. coli in our bodies, passed down to us by our ancestors, has had harmful genes eliminated from its gene pool by our body killing the offending bacteria.

    E. coli swimming around in some spring may be benign… but then again, it may not. It has been swimming around in spring water for thousands of years, not the human body. The number of members of an E. coli population that possess genes that produce toxins harmful to the human body may be none, all of them, or anywhere in between.

If these idiots are so convinced that eating other organisms will make them healthier, I would advise them to have a grass-fed beef burger, and contemplate the savage beauty and innocent cruelty of a universe where continued life demands death.

I wish I could upvote +10, +100, or more this sort of comment 🙂

  6. These are the same people who don’t vaccinate their kids.

  7. Little children around the world are dying, every day, because of unfiltered water.

I hope these privileged assholes suffer.

  8. @7 – I was thinking the same thing. It reminded me of stories about, for example, Drew Barrymore waxing ecstatic about taking a poo in the wild… while people all over the world suffer with their own waste.

  9. Surprised? The snowflakes in SF wash their sidewalks in wino-urine, …and love it. The Big One can not come to soon.

  10. 1. Go to CA.

    2. But lots of cases of bottle water.

    3. Take the labels off each bottle.

    4. Sell each bottle for $20.

Repeat until I’m a millionaire. (Yeah, it may take a while.)

  11. But then again, that’s just more of the stuff d’avant-garde we’ve come to get used to, coming from that area,

    I presume.

  12. But it comes in a glass bottle, so it’s better for the environment….

  13. May these people drink green water and die. The rest of the US will be better off.

  14. They are doing this because an idiot ersatz guru told them that water containing e. coli was healthier for them because it contained life.

So, that means the water they’re drinking is more intelligent than they are?

  15. Sounds like they are trying to bring back cholera.

  16. Good.

Let natural selection take its course.

    Moonbeam included.

  17. In the natural order of things, stupid people do not become rich, and therefore can do little real harm. In California, the rich are almost exclusively stupid, and can therefore spend their money to the detriment of everyone else. This is what happens when you turn the natural order on its head.

  18. But…. I thought green is good, maybe they are drinking that water too soon.

  23. Think I will pass on the unfiltered, untreated, unsterilized water.

Took a gamble on eating packaged Romaine Lettuce this very week. Guess you can mount me into this latest e-coli scare. I lost.

    Trot again.
