The Bundy Case Gets Tossed

A Federal judge yesterday tossed out the Federal Government’s case against Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy with prejudice; meaning the Feds don’t get another shot at putting him in prison. The reason the judge did this was because the Federal Prosecutors overzealously charged the Bundy’s, lied in their legal filings, and denied the Defense team access to potentially exculpatory evidence. Among other things, the prosecutors lied about how many armed (with military weapons and body armor) personnel the Feds sent to the ranch; they claimed it was only twenty, it was actually 197.

IOW, Cliven Bundy and his supporters claimed the Federal Government was corrupt and malevolent … and then the Department of Justice legal team proved them right.

What the Bundy case is really about is the Federal Government’s direct control of a third of the American landmass and more than half of the land in the big squared off states in the west. This is done in the arrogant belief — shared by Democrats and Republicans alike — that bureaucrats in a city on the east coast can better manage western lands than the people who live in those states. These people honestly believe that without thousands of DC bureaucrats holding them back, the people of Utah, Idaho, and the other western states would just turn Federal lands into giant toxic waste dumps where hillbillies on four-wheelers who fire 50-calibre assault weapons at jackalopes. There’s a pervasive belief in the political class that everyone in DC is wise and good and everyone between the coasts is a barbarian.

And then there’s this gem of a quote from a member of some George Soros funded environmental activist group.

Kieran Suckling, executive director of the Center on Biological Diversity, blamed the Justice Department for bumbling the prosecution. “Federal prosecutors clearly bungled this case and let the Bundys get away with breaking the law,” said Mr. Suckling in a statement. “The Bundys rallied a militia to mount an armed insurrection against the government. The failure of this case will only embolden this violent and racist anti-government movement that wants to take over our public lands.”

Now what the heck does race have to do with this case? Beyond that leftists think literally (not figuratively) everything is about race. They obsess over race the way Victorian women obsessed over showing a little bit of ankle.

  1. There are DC bureaucrats…

    And there are NY bureaucrats:

  2. The left throws the word “racist” around like The Moral Majority used the word “Satanic” to describe all that displeased them in the 1990s.

  3. how do such morally corrupt people get hired by the federal government? how are they allowed to keep their jobs?

  4. Republican Sens. Rand Paul and Dean Heller on Thursday both denounced as “offensive” and “racist” Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s recent comments about African-Americans.

“His remarks on race are offensive and I wholeheartedly disagree with him,” Paul said in a statement, according to Business Insider.

“Senator Heller completely disagrees with Mr. Bundy’s appalling and racist statements, and condemns them in the most strenuous way,” Heller spokeswoman Chandler Smith said in a statement.

Both Paul and Heller have previously defended Bundy, the Nevada rancher who is in a standoff against the federal government. Heller has referred to his supporters as “patriots.”

( Also on POLITICO: Rand Paul makes a muddle)

But on Thursday, The New York Times reported Bundy using the word “Negro” and wondering if blacks were better off as slaves.

“They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton,” Bundy said over the weekend, according to the Times. “And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

They go thru lengthy, thorough hiring processes, of course.

    Why you ask?

Now in the middle of NC, I’m proud to be able to take “barbarian” as a compliment!

    But, shhh! 😀

  8. OT, but on a lighter note, and speaking of “the people” vs “la raza” vs “muh people” vs “our folks” vs … Etc…

Check out the latest Crowder’s prank calls on liberal churches —

    Pretty funny.

  9. That’s not the point, rusty.

So prosecutors abused their office, abused citizens, and lied to the court. Will they be prosecuted?

Weird how rolling a stop sign can garner more punishment than attempting to railroad a citizen and lie to the court.

    Banana republic.

Yeah, but at least, here, we can still get our hands on bananas even if the Republic has drifted away so far it was starting to get out of sight.

Compare that to, say, post-1998 Venezuela.

Over there — no Republic. And no bananas, either.

    In just 19 years.

    Beat that!

  11. Btw, let me help you decipher Leftist English for ya, my friends (easy because there’s no mental gymnastic whatsoever to go back and forth from / to Leftist French, which I can very well too) —

It just needs two types of emphasis, on two words:

The failure of this case will only embolden this violent and racist anti-government movement that wants to take over our public lands

Think. Like a leftist. It’s so bizarre it hurts.

But hey, what a relief when you’ll stop 🙂

  12. Do we really want to keep talking about race or racism here on this thread? —

That is how my country’s compulsion for her generous theories and policies has started the new year, by cheerful celebration of anti-racism I suppose, and exactly on 01/01/2018 :

Funny. It looks like “racist” now means being —

white, french, police woman, kicked and beaten on the ground by a mob of 10+ just for the fun of it.

Oh and yeah, that’s the voices of a couple other females (no worries, their african accent tell us they were fine) commenting and giggling at the scene.

When I said many times France keeps asking for it, I was serious.

  13. New French record set, also.

1,000+ cars burnt on NYE 2018 alone.

Soon, that will exceed Tesla’s yearly production.

Darn. So much to be proud of, for the French citizen I am, in 2018 — isn’t it?

  14. Wow, rusty found out Clyven Bundy is a racist. Do you wish to outlaw racism? Does a man with despicable opinions in a worthy cause, still have a worthy cause?

  15. Bundy’s crime was clear and his little standoff was a joke in his showboating of the concept of states rights with land use and traditional grazing.

While bigotry and racism is a non-starter with myself we are free in this country to be racist and hold our own views it’s a simple concept basic to our American way of life and freedoms of speech and expression. Bundy lives in a rarefied rural Universe where there are very few black people and his View of an Obama administration, while being quaint and basically inaccurate in its detail of a minority president vindictively running Washington DC, is not uncommon in many parts of this vast country.

Federal bureaucrats and the Deep State defending their black president did indeed go overboard with their corruption in order to affect their Federal Supremacy. This whole episode was a demonstration of Reverse Racism and Bundy’s personal views are nothing compared to the overall anti-white racism of white guilt liberals.

I am fine and dandy with starting out the year with a dialogue of the left’s constant vomiting of their race obsessed views. If you don’t correct the record with these people the record will continue on being tainted with stupidity and inaccuracy.

  16. Those Western “rednecks” are as close to “libertarians” as this country has. Maybe 2018 can no longer accommodate their insistence on being “rustics.” Maybe beef really does come from the grocery store.

We are beginning to run out of stand-offs between the rustic people and the guvmunt. As I recall the Bundy saga, Harry Reid, developers, mineral rights people and others were using the land use rules and regulations to close Bundy down and starve him out. From my perspective, the “right and wrong” was cluttered with so much political and economic static that it all became interwoven and tangled.

The Bundy Wild West stand off was dramatic and symbolized the concept of being mad as Hell and not taking it any more. And the guvmunt crushed him like a bug. That further exacerbated the divide between the rule of law and regional common sense.

If the government issue against Bundy was overwhelmingly sound, then the government should come back and take another crack at it. But, it appears, the government has become informed that some cats can’t be carried by the tail.

In sum, I believe the Bundy mess was pretty much handled in a ham-handed fashion. When some people have had their backs pushed against the wall, they fight back. In Lundy’s case a whole “posse” of rustics showed up to back him and force the government’s hand.

That is well worth noticing and considering.
