The Stupid, It Burns

An anti-gun zealot argued with me on Twitter yesterday. This was his argument. (Lack of intelligent capitalization in original)

i have a question. if someone needs to pass an exam and other tests in order to get a gun, how could they possibly get around that?

Le sigh.

On a related note, the governor of California just signed a law making it illegal for teachers to shoot back at school shooters. So, it’s OK to protect banks and politicians with guns, but not children. I guess politicians and banks are more important.

Also, here’s a feminist who says that “The patriarchal race to colonize Mars is just another example of male entitlement

Rather, the impulse to colonize to colonize lands, to colonize peoples, and, now that we may soon be technologically capable of doing so, colonizing space has its origins in gendered power structures. Entitlement to power, control, domination and ownership. The presumed right to use and abuse something and then walk away to conquer and colonize something new.

And in the Progressive Utopia of San Francisco – where there is a massive shortage of housing because the supply of idiots wanting to live in a literal sh-thole outstrips the available number of dwelling units – a guy spent four years and over a million dollars trying to convince the progressive elites to let him turn his own building into a 75-unit apartment complex.

The real opposition came from some of the neighbors. A community meeting in January 2016 served as something of a flashpoint.

At the meeting, one woman fretted that the tall building would violate the privacy of a nearby public school. Another argued that the project needed to be 100 percent affordable housing. Two representatives from local Latino Cultural District Calle 24 said that even a 100 percent affordable housing project was out of the question, given the proposed height of the development.

When Tillman said he saw his project as necessary so people like his daughter could afford to come back and live in the city, one particularly motivated activist said she wished his daughter was killed in a terrorist attack.

And the community activists have allied themselves with the bureaucrats, or vice versa.

The Planning Department also said that new information had been presented suggesting that Tillman’s property might be a “historic resource.” You see, the building once housed a local employment agency, back in the 1970s. Also, it once featured a mural depicting the life of Latina women. (The mural no longer exists.)

Indeed, the lots Tillman owns were deemed ineligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places and on any state or local equivalents, according to the 2011 South Mission Historic Resource Survey conducted by the Planning Department.

Nevertheless, on February 13 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to require a historic evaluation to be done at Tillman’s expense. They will revisit the issue, they say, in another four months.

  1. The feminist is relying on stereotypes as a basis for her “argument”. Perhaps she should stay in the kitchen and let the men worry about increasing territory while she cooks up a nice pot roast.

  2. An anti-gun zealot argued with me on Twitter yesterday.

Well, what do you expect…he resides in the Empire State, and I would guess pretty close to where the important and beautiful people are. So much for whatever educational system he’s a part of and their lack of imparting critical thinking skills.

[Incidentally, the link for the tweet is double posted so that it returns Twitter’s version of a 404 Error when accessed.]

  3. I have an answer for your gun-grabber Twitter buddy:

“The same way this guy got his.”

And then the followup: “So why are you acquitting someone who illegally possessed a handgun and shot someone with it of murder?”

  5. Remember when people used to have to pass an exam an other tests in order to live and vote in this country? It really did work great — no one tries to immigrate legally any more.

  6. I must say they are making great progress in making San Francisco in to Venezuela but all “progress” is great; right?

  8. Does the new California law prohibit students from shooting back at school shooters? How about teachers’ assistants, principles, vice principles, janitors, nurses, counselors or hall monitors? How about security guards?

  9. From reading the community meeting article – no wonder people are fleeing the area. The only really important thing is to be sure is you have left the madness, and don’t bring the crazy with you.

We were told that everyone has an opinion. True enough. However, the value of a opinion doesn’t everyone really has an informed opinion. It seems to me that many are serving other interests under the cover of opinion. And that – whether or not it has – merit.

  10. China invented gunpowder over 1000 years ago & Asians/Whites can build guns in their garages. In fact people can rent tools to have build parties.

The left wants things uninvented guns, cars, & the internet. They want you defenseless, unable to travel easily, & unable to refute what their ownership of printing presses says.

  11. Just found out there was a deputy on duty and on site at the school. He stayed outside and did nothing while that POS killed all those people. The Sheriff who blamed the NRA and me and all gun owners…allowed him to resign.

8 days they hid this “news”.

The new HERO for the Democrats is a man with a gun…who did nothing while innocents were slaughtered.

  12. The Police were tracking the POS on the security cameras …set on “20-minute delay”. WTF!

Where I went to college, we called campus security the Church Police.

  13. @5

True, I suspect I am one of that handful of idiot professionals from Europe, India, or China who naively did it at their own expenses in money and time of year(s) long USCIS bureaucratic processes.

  14. Where I went to college, we called campus security the Church Police.

Nice nickname. At my (private) college, the campus security consisted of the director (whom, if I recall, was a transfer from the maintenance department) and several dweeby work-study students (and, IIRC, one recent graduate who apparently liked his job so much he decided to stay on—thus greatly enhancing the average educational level of the “force”). They were mostly seen trudging around at night checking doors, though as a campus which was mostly open 24/7 their duties were limited to walking around buildings closed at night, or the women’s dorm (which had restricted access), a la The Hardy Boys.

Even today, the state college nearest to me has a campus security department which is now headed by a former LEO, but the team underneath him still has a basic rent-a-cop composition (including the twin brother of an acquaintance who could pass for a slightly younger Clancy Wiggum—along with a rhyming first name). Worth noting is a major security incident a few years ago in which the adult son of a faculty member came on campus to kill his father and his father’s fellow faculty member girlfriend—with a crossbow. Still not sure how prepared they would be to handle an active shooter situation. But hey, they will enthusiastically inform you of when the library is closing should you be there when they are in the building.

Woa. Lucky guy — a true bargain in that sort of place.

    LMF(rench)AO 😀 😀 😀

If I may correct, the pen pushers probably meant to say, in four years.
