2: Gimmee a break, your blog here would have been *vastly* different if a decision had been handed down for Coleman. 3rd party candidate spoiler? hmmmmmm…..I heard the same things (and from different parties) in ‘92, ‘96 and ‘00. (not to mention a decision from the Supreme Court of the United States which could also be interpreted as a sad day for civil discourse)

I’m sure you’d be really popular there right now. Keeping in mind that MN was the state that elected an independent for governor a few years back, I’d say they’re probably known for knowing the difference. Minnesotans sure aren’t all Rose Nylan.

Would my post have been different, Kevin, had the decision been handed down for Coleman? No, it would not. I may yet write the post I had planned had he won, focusing on his inept campaign and even more inept response to the Franken campaign’s legal maneuvering.
I grant that Coleman too should have done better and may yet address that, though given the decision it is less relevant now.
But, since you seem to disagree with my post, can you provide evidence showing that Franken is indeed popular in the Gopher State and that there is a freshman US Senator less popular than he?
So, instead of speculating what I may or may not have said, address what I actually did say.

Kevin – there’s a real possibility (likelihood) that some of the Franken votes were fraudulent. Starting right after the election, some of the “recounts” were statistically unlikely and other just plain stunk.
Oh well, we’re doomed anyway. What’s one more blathering fool?

Do you think this is normal, gillie?
Under Minnesota law, election officials are required to make a duplicate ballot if the original is damaged during Election Night counting. Officials are supposed to mark these as “duplicate” and segregate the original ballots. But it appears some officials may have failed to mark ballots as duplicates, which are now being counted in addition to the originals. This helps explain why more than 25 precincts now have more ballots than voters who signed in to vote. By some estimates this double counting has yielded Mr. Franken an additional 80 to 100 votes.
This disenfranchises Minnesotans whose vote counted only once. And one Canvassing Board member, State Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson, has acknowledged that “very likely there was a double counting.” Yet the board insists that it lacks the authority to question local officials and it is merely adding the inflated numbers to the totals.
In other cases, the board has been flagrantly inconsistent. Last month, Mr. Franken’s campaign charged that one Hennepin County (Minneapolis) precinct had “lost” 133 votes, since the hand recount showed fewer ballots than machine votes recorded on Election Night. Though there is no proof to this missing vote charge — officials may have accidentally run the ballots through the machine twice on Election Night — the Canvassing Board chose to go with the Election Night total, rather than the actual number of ballots in the recount. That decision gave Mr. Franken a gain of 46 votes.
Meanwhile, a Ramsey County precinct ended up with 177 more ballots than there were recorded votes on Election Night. In that case, the board decided to go with the extra ballots, rather than the Election Night total, even though the county is now showing more ballots than voters in the precinct. This gave Mr. Franken a net gain of 37 votes, which means he’s benefited both ways from the board’s inconsistency.
What a surprise. Obama Party-controlled officials and counties are stuffing ballot boxes by “forgetting” to mark duplicate ballots, and gillie is whining that this is OK, just like gillie whined that the Obama Party’s use of fraudulent voter registrations through ACORN was perfectly OK as well.

I think this blog entry is sour grapes and therefore, as a Democrat and liberal, I wish this entry and this blog had more readers. The loser’s lament attracts only losers.
It is astonishing to me that a person who is homosexual can feel at home within the Republican Party. I would love to see several polls by a variety of polling organizations ask Americans what their political views are and what they think of homosexuals. All my life I have heard Republicans say that homosexuality is like child molesting, that homosexuals will burn forever in Hell, and that we need to be protected from the homosexual agenda.
Why do you think Rush Limbaugh so often makes remarks about “bending over”? Is it his great love of gay Patriots?
I see that your “supporters” here in this thread have information about rigged elections. The Courts are rigged, the Media is rigged, ACORN is powerful.
I wonder how long it will take these friends to include Gay Patriot as part of that vast conspiracy of The Other which is the reason for the existence of all evil. My guess is they will turn on you so fast you will not even know what came and arrested you.

tjproudamerican-Oh no! Some Republicans down in Oklahoma are super anti-gay. I guess that means I give up everything else I believe in and support the Democratic party, a party which as of yet hasn’t mustered the courage to end DADT, which even most Republicans are fine with scraping (including this Republican and former member of the Navy). It’s quite easy to find members of both parties who won’t do a thing for GLBT causes, but generally speaking, Republicans won’t fool you into believing they are on your side the way Democrats do.
Dan, technically, I think Roland Burris is probably the least popular freshman senator, but I certainly get your point. Anyway, as a Minnesota Republican, I plan to move passed this election and start judging Al Franken for how he performs as a senator. I would hope Minnesota Republicans don’t do what Democrats did nationally after Florida 2000—continually look back bitterly at the result. While I am quite suspicious at the way the vote count and legal challenges were handled and even more suspicious of election day voter fraud, I don’t think Minnesota Republicans are going to succeed by indignantly arguing that the election was stolen from Coleman. I’d bet that Al Franken is going to be a major screwup as a senator, both in terms of tone and performance, judging by his past. Nevertheless, I do have to say that what he had to say yesterday was, IMHO, quite classy. And, of course, I thought what Norm Coleman said as he conceded was also very classy. Assuming that Norm Coleman was never going to ultimately win the legal challenge and return to the senate, it is best for Minnesota that both men were able to speak the way they did.
I hate voter fraud, and given the existence of groups like ACORN and the fact that Democrats have almost always opposed voting reforms like voter ID, I do believe that Democrats benefit a lot more from voter fraud than Republicans. Even so, elections are not normally determined by voter fraud but rather by the competence of a campaign and the candidates’ positions on issues.

I also don’t know if anyone has brought this up, but Minnesota has a system of “same day registration,” where you can show up, register, and vote on election day and all you need to “prove” residency is a school ID or a utility bill or a rental receipt, which are easy to fake (not that anyone will be checking). It’s a system ripe for abuse. It’s only too easy for out-of-state college students or a couple busloads of ACORN voters from Chicago to be parachuted into marginal precincts to up the vote for the Demonrats.
