Where is the call to action from the President? The difference between the governors down there and our young President is striking. Today day 75 there is finally a Dutch tanker called THE WHALE in the gulf. Testing. To see if they can be authorized to begin skimming the gulf. Reportedly it could skim hundreds of thousands of gallons daily. Seperating the oil from the water. Day 75. There are hundreds more skimmers around Americas coast that havne’t been organized into the effort. They are sitting in Boston and Portland IN CASE they too have a spill. Ineptitude. Liberal Democrats. And the wildlife are slaughtered. And the Red State economies are devastated.
BTW except for the murders, things are pretty good in Chicago I’ve heard.

It’s been how many weeks, and the Jones Act still hasn’t been waived?
The massive skimmer “A Whale” has been tied up in Florida for over a month for US Coast Guard “inspections”.
Where’s the LEADERSHIP?

Liberal Dufus in Chief……….thy name is Obama.
Comment by RJLigier — July 3, 2010 @ 7:58 pm - July 3, 2010
*completely* agree. This is reprehensible and exposes Obama’s complete inability to be anything other than a grand standing politician of the old school variety.

That lame-assed speech a few weeks ago is all you’re gonna get. Now he’s done “something” that he can point to when folks start asking “WTF???”.

You expected better from a community organizer? We shouted our heads off that this man had no clue what it meant to be an executive leader, but the media and talking heads convinced the people of this country that leading a campaign was the equivalent of executive experience. I’m still torn: is this incompetence or is this deliberate? I’m beginning to lean toward deliberate. This man wants the gulf destroyed, to take down big oil and nationalize another industry. SHAME ON OBAMA.
And btw, I’m glad to see your spell check feature still refuses to accept Obama as valid word.

O keeps saying there is nothing he can do – he can make the US Coast Guard waive all the inspections and get the skimmers out there where they belong. They can’t pollute any worse that wehat is already happening.
And btw all of the coastal parishes in Louisiana should bring a Class Action lawsuit against O personally for incompetence.

The governors of the affected states should withhold federal taxes they are obligated to collect until the Feds step up and do their job. Obama is clueless when it comes to administering anything. This is what happens when you vote in a puppet as President. This lack of leadership was predicted in the campaign, but the LSM deliberately ignored the signs. I’m generally not a tin foil hat conspiracist, but this whole thing has me wondering if there isn’t something bigger going on here.

For all the MSM criticisms of GW Bush, the Jones Act was waived within 24-hrs after Katrina and Rita.

Just think of what our health care will be like under Obamacare!?!? You ain’t seen nothing yet!!!

Is Obama incompetent or does he have malice? I don’t know the answer.

And can I rip into the media for a sec?
When in God’s name did they start to become so passive.
No one will ALLOW them to film along any of the thousands of miles of destruction? No one will ALLOW them to fly over the gulf and film the horrific muck and oil that is floating on the surface. Where are the investigative journalists? No one can film without Obamas or the coast guard or BP’s permission? Excuse me? Where the hell is the outrage at that? Where is the daily interviews with bankrupt business people and out of work fishermen? When the govt was shutdown during the Clinton Gingrich years for 5days, all we got were daily reports of park employees on furlough. for 5 stupid days!!!

not to be mean, but where are the Congressmen on this? I do not see any proactive behaviors from our other leaders.
If waiving the Jones Act is so important, I would expect at least Republican leaders in DC to march to the White House and demand the waiver in order to save the environment and businesses in the South.
I’ve been paying attention to this via conservative websites since this began and it seems conservatives are waiting for destruction of Obama rather than encouraging their own leaders to push for saving our South and our Gulf. If that’s the case, they are no different than Obama.

During the time-between-times this morning, this came to me: This is the “Laser-like focus on jobs”? Tied to the moratorium on driling?
Jobs + Moratorium = obviously too many people are working independently of the government so he’s laying them off.
Any argument or debate?
Comment by Jax Dancer — July 4, 2010 @ 9:06 pm - July 4, 2010
@Gene, incredibly the only member of the media that has made a noise about the censorship is Anderson Cooper. He has castigated Thad Allen who promised that there would be transparency… like hell there is transparancy.
Comment by straight aussie — July 5, 2010 @ 2:44 am - July 5, 2010
I believe Anderson Cooper only did it to try to get viewers to his loser ratings show on CNN; I have read he might bail on CNN to go to CBS’ 60 Minutes. Is that an improvement?
I also believe if memory serves, Congress has 4 different investigations into the Gulf oil spill–not counting the 2 separate Gulf Oil Commisions, one created by Obama to be anti-oil & the other created by Republicans in Congress with 10 Republicans & 5 Democrats because they don’t trust Obama.
Comment by Sebastian Shaw — July 5, 2010 @ 11:57 am - July 5, 2010
The Jones act argument is bogus. http://www.factcheck.org/2010/06/oil-spill-foreign-help-and-the-jones-act/

Day 97 “have you plugged the hole yet daddy?”
oops
It’s only day 78 but I expect day 97 will be the same….
Pray for the people of the gulf.
Comment by Gene in Pennsylvania — July 5, 2010 @ 5:20 pm - July 5, 2010
Another reason for Obama’s malaise on the Gulf Oil Disaster–besides he is not leader–is he still deferring to Unions; it explains why he has not waved the Jones Act, has not cut through the red tape, etc al as the oil continues to gush. This will destroy Obama in the end.
However, I believe Obama’s wounds are largely self-inflicted due to his arrogance, lack of executive experience, his tin political ear, & his absolute disconnect from reality. Speeches do not make the man. Obama still has come up with this little epiphany to date. In fact, most people are tuning him out. Obama can only get smaller as 2010 wanes into 2011.
Comment by Sebastian Shaw — July 5, 2010 @ 7:32 pm - July 5, 2010
I’m sure you’d like to apologize to BP too like the person that will take over Congressional oversight of BP if the GOP retakes the house.
Comment by Tom in Lazybrook — July 6, 2010 @ 9:23 pm - July 6, 2010
Tom,
Please list for us the enumerated powers that allow the Executive branch to take assets, under threat of lawsuit, from a person or business and disperse them as that branch sees fit, without oversight from any other branch.
Thank you.
