  2. It seems to me that the argument of Liberals exhibiting ‘hate’ towards conservative LGBT groups is mute once you said that Dan Savage’s liberal comment to conservatives that they’re “window dressing’ for bigoted Republicans was the equivalent of him being a school yard bully.

Just because your feelings were hurt by Dan Savage’s “Window Dressing” comment, doesn’t mean you should stoop to a level comparing LGBT liberals to school yard bullies who have literally taunted LGBT youth to death…

Shame on YOU! And thanks for validating Dan’s point!

  4. Phil, please read the posts to which you attach your comments. My feelings weren’t hurt by Mr. Savage’s remarks. I made clear I am amused by such unoriginal expressions. (It’s all in the post. All you need do is read.)

  5. I doubt that was what prompted the comparison between Dan Savage and schoolyard bullies. It was probably this:

Savage on national television said he wished all Republicans were dead. This was about twenty minutes before he said he wanted to have hate sex with Rick Santorum.

  9. What is mind blowing to me about the LGBT community (more on the left, but there is some on the right) is the plethora of hypocrisy that exudes throughout the entire LGBT “establshment” (and to a degree, the LGBT community at large).

It’s just sad that the LGBT left establishment follows the lead of the at-large left establishment of dismissing anyone who doesn’t fit their mold.

The hypocrisy comes when these same people Within the LGBT community celebrate these messages of diversity, inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, etc. Serioiusly?

I extend this hypocrisy into a social and cultural context. Socially/Culturally, we have establishments that cater to men only, females only, country music lovers, bears, jocks, blacks, latinos, youth, old, goths, gym bunnies, etc. The only people I know who actually celebrate the true message of diversity, tolerance, and inclusion are drag queens.

Now, politically, even though it’s happened for years now, we have the same partisan divide that’s separating America within the LGBT community. And, what’s sad is that all it’s doing is sending a message to the rest of America and the rest of the world is the message of hypocrisy.

And then the members of the LGBT establishment wonder why America isn’t ready for LGBT full equality yet? It’s because the LGBT community isn’t ready for it yet.

  10. Hate is the fuel of the left. Hate is very powerful, and the left has learned to harness it effectively by telling people that hate is okay as long as it is directed at the right people.

Lightning doesn’t strike a lightning rod because it hates the lightning rod, it strikes it because that’s what lightning does. In the same way, the left isn’t a peaceful, rational organism that sees a gay conservative and switches on the hate. The left hates continuously, the presence of a gay conservative merely exposes it.

  11. Liberals hate what intimidates them. They won’t debate. They spin, name call, ignore facts and gang up to mock, but they will not go mind to mind.

The more they lose, the more intimidated they feel and the more they belittle.

    Comment by Heliotrope — January 19, 2012 @ 8:55 am - January 19, 2012

  12. Hate is the emotion liberal use to manipulate their unthinking zombies; they can’t debate on the merits. Therefore, the Democrats try to literally destroy their opponent through character assignation.

President Obama isn’t running on his toxic record of ObamaCare, Porkulus, Dodd-Frank, & EPA regulations, but he has plenty of mud to throw in the form of demagoguery & class warfare. Obama isn’t presenting any new solutions. He’s just throwing mud.

Throwing mud is all liberals know. When confronted with facts, theyjust get more mad. They can’t handle the truth.

President Obama did himself no favors by rejecting the Keystone Pipeline in the context of long term high unemployment, job stagnation, & inflation. Today, Obama is using the backdrop of Disney’s the Magic Kingdom as a prop for jobs. This will backfire given the Keystone Pipeline decision while all of Flordia’s Democrat seem to be busy to make an appearance with Obama.

Facts are far more powerful than mud. And people want ideas to help the economy. Obama’s old Marxist tripe is hurting America. Hence, Obama’s political toxicity.

  13. Personally? I think part of it is hatred of the challenge to their worldview.

It’s akin to the hatred I’ve seen from lesbians aimed at bisexual women. It almost seems like the idea of a ‘flexible sexuality’ is anethma to them. *shrug*

Same thing here. “Conservative minorities” (Gay, black, Jew what have you) are an annoyance that provides doubt. successful conservative minorities are a true threat as it means everything they think they know is wrong.

Actually, given what Dan Savage and the organizations he endorses and supports have said about gay conservatives like Dan Blatt, gay and lesbian liberals like Dan Savage are LOWER than schoolyard bullies.

And when you consider how, as Rattlesnake pointed out, they actively call for the deaths of Republicans on national television and wish for the deaths of the children of gay conservatives, it becomes obvious that they are less schoolyard bullies than they are bigoted and hatemongering sociopaths.

I mean, seriously, Phil Black. How on earth can you take seriously someone like Dan Savage who claims to be anti-suicide, then screams on national TV that he wishes half the country would kill themselves or be killed? How can you believe a word he says when he and his minions are actively calling for the death of gay conservatives’ children?

Now, if you were opposing bullying and killing people on principle, I would expect that you would be immediately condemning the behavior of Dan Savage, Wayne Besen, Evan Hurst, Joe Jervis, and the other liberal gays and lesbians who supposedly are “anti-bullying”, but posting these things and wishing for the death of children.

But as is blatantly obvious to anyone outside the desperate gay and lesbian community, you only care about bullying and death if it advances your political goals. And furthermore, when one looks at the skyrocketing rate of HIV among teens, what becomes even more obvious is that your fellow bigots like Dan Savage only care about dead and maimed teens if you can use their bodies to attack conservatives and Christians; you certainly aren’t interested in the ones that your irresponsible barebacking and promiscuity kill.

Dan Savage IS a hole in the head.

“Another young gay propagandist kills himself:

After nineteen years on this planet, throughout which he endured shocking levels of ostracism, abuse and rejection, this week gay filmmaker Eric James Borges decided shit actually wasn’t getting better and took his own life. In the It Gets Better video he shot one month ago, Borges describes his lifelong odyssey through various rings of hell-on-earth: he’d been teased since kindergarten, his parents tried to perform an exorcism on him when they learned he was gay, he was bullied throughout high school.”

  20. For several years GLBT’ers have spoken too loosely of suicide as the result and reason for their policy changes, and more dangerously as a place where gay youth are continuously on the brink.

No ENDA? There will be more suicides
No marriage? They will see themselves as worthless and commit suicide.
No bullying laws? The children will have no recourse other than suicide.

Even the “It gets better” videos: because you are about to commit suicide, watch this video so you will not…

    Exactly, Geena.

The gay and lesbian community, led by Dan Savage and Lady Gaga and supported by the bigot blogs like Rob Tisinai, JoeMyGod, Box Turtle Bulletin, Truth Wins Out, and so forth, are now essentially using teen suicide as a bargaining chip — do as we say or teenagers will kill themselves, and then we’ll milk the media for it.

Really, live teenagers are of no use to them, nor do they really care what happens. They want suicidal ones, and even better, they want dead ones. They make it very clear to teenagers that the way to get attention from the gay and lesbian community is to kill yourself or threaten to kill yourself.

  22. It’s been my experience that gay liberals give people a choice between two philosophies. The first is that if you’re straight, you must act the way the straight liberals do. And if you are gay, you must act the way gay liberals do, with guessing which well-knoiwn folks are secretly gay and demanding you wear bizarre clothing on Pride day and all that. So it’s not that we’re fighting to live our lives the way we want to, it’s living them the way the activists want us to.

  23. There are some sad and inaccurate caricatures of “the left” and “gay liberals” here, e.g.:

    10. the left hates continuously.

21: gay liberals don’t care about kids killing themselves.

22: gay liberals say that if you’re gay you must wear bizarre clothes on Pride Day.

These and other comments are unrepresentative of the views and actions of many, many people on the left, gay or otherwise.

    Comment by Tom1729 — January 19, 2012 @ 7:25 pm - January 19, 2012

  24. Daniel, in your blog post you asked, “Why do these people hate so much?”

I’m not sure how seriously you mean this question as an attempt at inquiry — as opposed to a way of making a statement or as a way of prompting for the usual talk here against “the gay left” — so I don’t know if I should take a crack at it or not.

I will say that though I’m to the left of the great majority of the haters you’re talking about, I don’t share their sentiments. I came of age well before the anti-conservative hate among LGBT people had gotten this bad so it hardly seems like a natural or foregone way of thinking to me.

Interesting wording in the question: “Why do these people hate so much“? [my italics] Does this mean you don’t see anything odd about them hating gay conservatives, or hating at all politically, but that you just don’t understand why they hate as intensely as they do? Or are you saying that you don’t understand why so many of them (“the gay left”) hate gay conservatives? (I hope it’s the latter.)

As to Dan Savage, pick a number. There are quite a few bisexual and transgender people, most I’m sure left of center, as well as members of many other groups who have serious problems with the guy. He “disses” and abuses a lot of folks.

I get the feeling sometimes that modern U.S. conservatives, especially some subgroups of them, think they get a type and degree of abuse that is completely unique. Based on what I’ve seen and experienced, I’d say that isn’t close to true. To me, it looks like it’s tough all over. These days, anybody who finds themself in the minority at the wrong place and time or around one unstable or rage-filled individual who disagrees with them can be in for a lot of grief.

So you’re saying someone has to die first for it to be valid? And I’ve wondered what’s so special about gay kids that drives losers, creeps and has beens to make YouTube videos? What about straight kids who commit suicide? Where’s the equality?

Makes about as much sense as giving a nasty POS like Joe Jervis a GLAAD award.

On another note, there ought to be a Google bomb wherein Savage is an act one can view at a Tijuana donkey show.

  27. 10. the left hates continuously.

So politicizing a tragedy like the attempted murder of your own congress critter and the killing of so many innocent people was done out of love? Particularly when Debbie Wasserman Token still vomits out the same BS a year later, I suppose.

And I reckon it was either hate or retardation that drove liberals to claim that Palin’s graphic was deadly and would drive people to kill whilst plastering it all over the internet and the evening news for all to see. Which is it?

Guess the #Occutwat rape and murder camps were just love-ins, right? Libs love Walmart, Coca Cola, McDonald’s, the oil companies, religious people, blacks, Jews, Hispanics, gays, the TEA Partiers, people with money, people who want to keep their own money, people who own guns, folks who want their kids to have a good (real) education etc.

Long story short, any ASSertion that what V said is untrue is nothing less than liberal bullshit. Liberals REQUIRE and thrive off of anger, hate, misery, fear, envy, jealousy and do their level best to keep it going.

  29. I wonder if the the left will ever grow up. Back in 1982 there was a gay bar on Santa Monica east of Vine St. called The Academy. As I was about to enter to distribute Log Cabin´s slate sheet and my campaign literature as a candidate in the primary for State Assembly 45th, A.D. a group was lñeaving and screamed ¨Gay Rapublican!, I´d rather admit to being jewish nazi before being a gay Republican. So times haven´t changed.

Talk about ¨useful idiots.¨ That best descibes the left wing of the gay community. When did they ask their Democrat President or congressional leaders to denounce Iran´s and islam´s killing of gay and lesbians. Some of their Party´s represntatives think it´s alright to allow some parts of sharia law to be practiced in the United States.

  30. I would think the gay left should do a better job of figuring out why some gays commit suicide. They just don’t know. Their “It Gets Better” campaign doesn’t do anything to help. Most professionals would say they must identify the root cause and not hide behind a bunch of slogans and empty rhetoric. They blame conservatives and the religious for the suicides when the evidence is the right wing are bullied by the liberals leftists. There is just a bunch of finger pointing and no solutions.

My feeling is the leftist policies and cultures in the schools has made every gay youth a target. They encourage kids to identify as gay at young ages and they raised the profiles of gays in society, which created an opening for bullies. Everyone who has been bullied knows that the reason for the attacks are completely random. People will just hate you for you.

The bullied are not suicidal. Thus, I wonder why some gays do it. Is it more than normal or less? “It Gets Better” is not a solution.

  31. In a recent column (last week, I think), Dan Savage himself addressed the question of whether his vitriolic attacks on Rick Santorum were in some way kinda/sorta like the bullying inflicted on gay teens.

And while I thought that Savage’s column was generally self-serving and puerile, he did make ONE point that is unassailably true: Santorum is surrounded by people who support him, personally and professionally and politically. But bullied teenagers generally aren’t surrounded by supporters (that’s one of the things that makes them bully-targets!), and the poor wretches who actually commit suicide may believe that they are completely without support.

    Comment by Throbert McGee — January 20, 2012 @ 5:07 pm - January 20, 2012

  32. Santorum is surrounded by people who support him, personally and professionally and politically.

Did his supporters just show up one day out of the blue, or did he work hard to impress those people, in whatever fashion and to establish a network of friends and admirers?

I wonder if maybe parents should, instead of raising a generation of complete pussies, rewarded just for existing, teach their kids how to cope with disappointment, adversity and how to win friends and influence people?

    Comment by TGC — January 20, 2012 @ 5:40 pm - January 20, 2012

  33. Having friends and supporters is not the same a bodyguards and a restraining order, which is what you’ll need if you have a bully.

Bullied teenagers are supposed to be supported by their friends, but how do you overcome a bully? This reasoning excuses the action since of course, Savage justified his bullying of Santorum and gets a kick out of such activity. He probably turned his own experiences against those he hate and he now feels better about it.

Strange thing is gay teenagers now know they are supported, yet are still get bullied (or not), and are taking their lives regardless.
