  1. Does Robert read GayPatriot????

  2. For those of us in the know, there are no bigger supporters of Palin than gay men!

    Comment by Leah — November 1, 2012 @ 3:22 pm - November 1, 2012

  3. I listened to this live the other day on my smart phone.

  4. Robert sounds like a man who has his act together. He owns himself and is not owned by others. Good for him.

  5. A very good call! If he doesn’t read this blog already, I’m sure he’d be glad to learn about it.

    Comment by Kurt — November 1, 2012 @ 4:08 pm - November 1, 2012

  6. Heard this go down live on the show. Caller did a great job. Rush treated him the same as any other caller, with respect and dignity. Which is a stark contrast to hateful, leftist, nasty radio show hosts who are suggesting we (gay conservatives) commit suicide.

    Comment by Alan — November 1, 2012 @ 5:30 pm - November 1, 2012

  7. “Does Robert read GayPatriot????”

Leah, I was wondering the same thing when I was listening to the call on Rush.

    Comment by chad — November 1, 2012 @ 5:37 pm - November 1, 2012

  8. This is a smart caller, like most conservatives. the conservative movement is really only for the informed and intelligent. Love the caller. Wish I knew him.

    Comment by Melanie Branham — November 1, 2012 @ 5:37 pm - November 1, 2012

  9. Back when I was a “kool-aid drinker” I was under the impression that Rush Limbaugh was a modern-day Hitler. Like most liberals, I had never actually listened to him. Then a press operator in my shop started to listen to him, and i had to hear his show every day. Rush came a cross as an intelligent, well intentioned man, who made the case that conservatism improves our lives, while liberalism destroys our lives. I haven’t voted democrat since!

  11. Rush often has gay and lesbian callers and he treats them all the same.

    Comment by TGC — November 1, 2012 @ 7:28 pm - November 1, 2012

  12. The narrative says that Rush Limbaugh hates gays and wants them exterminated. To the left, the narrative must always trump the truth.

    Comment by V the K — November 1, 2012 @ 7:49 pm - November 1, 2012

  13. We coalesce around principles despite self-identity. For the left, self-identity is the only principle.

    Comment by Ignatius — November 1, 2012 @ 8:54 pm - November 1, 2012

  14. Just wanted to say I am a heterosexual married man that has been coming here for a while. I respect you and Alphecca (the gay gun nut from Vermont) and one doesn’t have to be of the same sexual orientation as another to be appalled at what the liberal agendas doing to this country.

    Comment by Brian G. — November 2, 2012 @ 12:24 am - November 2, 2012

  15. I have always been impressed with the way Rush treats his callers, irrespective of their ideology. Best in the business.

    Comment by Joe — November 2, 2012 @ 12:47 am - November 2, 2012

  16. the caller , Robert, said I am an American, and I am gay.
He is so right. What is important is being an American.
Democrats wish to divide us in groups and wish to make believe that they graciously support secondary interests of these groups,
Robert is a good American he wishes the good of the USA and all Americans, like women for instance, they wish the same the same, good of USA jobs for all, prosperity for all Americans…….they are not Sandra Flukes…

  17. I came to this site via Insta, but glad I arrived. Happy to see that people understand that just because you are conservative does not mean you are anti-everything.

    Comment by squirmn — November 2, 2012 @ 2:08 am - November 2, 2012

  18. To be fair, it would probably be better to contrast how Rush handles a gay liberal caller vs how Mike Malloy handles a gay conservative caller. The caller agrees with Rush whereas a gay conservative caller disagrees with Mike. In the end, Mike Malloy is a hateful angry crazy guy, so he would be meaner and angrier either way. To do it scientifically, you would have to survey at least 300 situations on each side.

    Comment by Jerry — November 2, 2012 @ 2:38 am - November 2, 2012

  19. What have the Democrats done for the gay community?! When they had absolute control of both houses and the executive branch they did not introduce one piece of legislation to recognize civil unions at the federal level, the made no move to repeal DOMA, and w/o GOP votes they couldn’t have gotten DODT repealed. They are either remarkably incompetent or are not quite so gay-friendly as they would have the world think and they’re just cynically exploiting the gay community for votes. For God’s sake, it was the Log Cabin Republicans who were litigating DODT for years, not the Democrats. And yet the gay community takes its outrage out on Republicans instead of holding their Democratic politicians and specifically Obama, Reid and Pelosi responsible for totally failing the gay community.

    Comment by Jane — November 2, 2012 @ 2:44 am - November 2, 2012

  20. Rush was very classy and respectful to the caller. The left isn’t. Obama only sees gay people as pawns, he switched his position on gay marriage a couple of months before an election because it was politically convenient. And the gay left falls for it? They clearly don’t mind being pandered to, but shouldn’t they prefer an honest and respectful disagreement over gay marriage (Romney is no enemy to gays) to being played like a flute?

Since the gay left is so shallow and petty anyways, why do they hate Romney and Ryan? They’re more good-looking than the scrawny smoker and the old man’s out of the question completely.

  21. As the father of a young gay man (19), I’d like to jump in here and thank you for this invaluable resource. I find it both interesting and frustrating that when good, solid Americans are principled and courageous enough to “disregard orders “ and praise Rush Limbaugh, and/or support Sarah Palin or Romney/Ryan, they are left to fend for themselves on a rooftop, against the rabid and withering attack of those who would enslave them-boot on their neck to discourage any backsliding. And those who claim to have your security at heart, leave you there for slaughter, to avoid offending the larger, more radical group.

Any father worth an ounce of his goddam salt will take up that “gun “ and man that position to his last breath as well. And it should go without saying that this is in no way intended to diminish the sacrifice of that Navy Seal. He fought for all of us against great odds and certain failure.

Overly dramatic? Perhaps. But this is a gay site, right?:-)

  22. I’ve said for years that it’s far far easier to be queer and conservative than conservative and queer. I have yet to be proven wrong on this.

    Comment by alexthechick — November 2, 2012 @ 7:33 am - November 2, 2012

  23. This is why I like listening to Rush Limbaugh–I enjoy his bombastic “you people!” schtick, but he also lets callers talk, and he treats them respectfully.

Of course, he never lets anyone that disagrees with him on the air in the first place…

    Comment by jim — November 2, 2012 @ 9:14 am - November 2, 2012

  24. As with so many that discount Rush, the left will say that this was a “fake” caller…

    Comment by Alan — November 2, 2012 @ 9:20 am - November 2, 2012

  25. I guess I should also say that about any conservative gay, black, Hispanic,.. (put in your favorite identity nitch segment of the population) & the left will demean, ridicule them as non-existent, sell out, “fake”, (far worse characterizations) etc….

    Comment by Alan — November 2, 2012 @ 9:31 am - November 2, 2012

  26. Why is it that gays have to be “known” by their sexual preferences? I doubt many people know what my preferences are and I don’t consider it any of their business.

    Comment by MnemonicMike — November 2, 2012 @ 9:54 am - November 2, 2012

  27. Did he say, I’m not gonna vote for a candidate simply because they’re gay? Is he saying Obama is gay? Hooo! If gay, Obama has come out for gay marriage only in recent days and with layers of qualifications. That was right around the Chik wars. Friends and foes, if I may, please check me out from those controversies.

  28. I’m not a gay basher, but I don’t like the gay lifestyle being forced down our throats. I don’t see it as an acceptable alternative to be taught about to third graders. We are living through a culture war, where every traditional value from heterosexual marriage, to Christian Instruction, Christmas and Charity are under attack.

There will be a great fallout from this. I expect bad times ahead and most of this America bashing is tax funded. What happens when the tax money runs out? Most of the states leading the charge in the culture war are in fiscal crisis.

    Comment by Louis Wheeler — November 2, 2012 @ 12:47 pm - November 2, 2012

  29. I don’t have enough familiarity with Limbaugh to opine authoritatively, but the few times I have heard him I’ve been struck by his respectful treatment of callers, and that he did not demean or belittle or threaten them.

Rush, however, is one of the left’s most hated “Angry white men.” Labeled as such by paragons of reason like Chris Matthews. For whatever reason the right wants to discuss and debate, the left wants to hector and harangue.

    Comment by Steve Skubinna — November 2, 2012 @ 1:30 pm - November 2, 2012

  30. Good article and example. It is telling the way the “party of tolerance” treats conservative gay men with contempt and insults, while Rush greets them with courtesy. It is similar with black conservatives. The so called “party of tolerance” is in fact totally intolerant of any dissent.

Conservatives believe in the necessity of facts, logic, rationality, and the acknowledgment that other peoples’ opinions are not necessarily wrong just because they are different than or inconvenient for yours.

Liberals believe….well, it’s best spelled out here.

  32. Most of the time, I agree with Rush. BUT, like Newt, every now and then, he makes one hell of a point that can’t be countered. Then of course, he rarely ever is rude to callers, regardless of their political leanings. That’s called being a gentleman.
