  1. Is it possible that he wants Romney to make all the tough calls – in other words to nail himself to the cross of the presidency – while Obama’s cup still overfloweth?

    Comment by perturbed — December 6, 2012 @ 5:00 am - December 6, 2012

  2. Read the article more closely; Milbank doesn’t want Romney to offer solutions, all he wants is for Romney to tell congressional Republicans to shut up and give Obama everything he wants.

In the fiscal-cliff debate, it’s not clear that John Boehner, Mitch McConnell or anybody else is in control of Republican backbenchers. GOP lawmakers such as Sen. Saxby Chambliss (Ga.) and Rep. Tom Cole (Okla.) are treated as heretics for stating the obvious need to compromise. Even in defeat, Romney’s voice could be enough to return his party to reason.

“Tell those conservatives to shut up about the debt and obey Glorious Leader,” in other words,

  3. Notice also, none of these liberal left columnist ever dare lecture Chairman Zero to compromise with Republicans.

  4. “Milbank does at least recognize that fiscal cliff negotiations have reached an impasse. In calling on Romney to come in and help resolve things, he seem to have acknowledged that Obama [& Republicans have] failed to forge a workable compromise.”

  5. Passing gas’s quote doesn’t change that again, it’s Republicans being told to cave.

  6. Nazis like Passing By always have to blame the Jews for their problems, Livewire. Never their own Fuhrer Obama.

  7. I know Passing Gas is, basically, a brain-dead leftist parrot… but if Boner’s offer of $800 Billion in tax increases and $2.2 Trillion in make-believe spending increases isn’t a compromise… what is it?

    Comment by V the K — December 6, 2012 @ 11:15 am - December 6, 2012

  8. Milbank has it all wrong. He should be suggesting or telling Bill Clinton to talk to the Democrats about negotiating and work with Republicans on spending cuts. Somebody should inform Harry Reid that having extended the Bush tax rates in the past is not cutting spending. If I were an employee and my boss said in my annual review the company was not doing well so there would be no salary increase, it doesn´t mean I received a cut in salary.

  9. Or maybe Obama’s new BFF Chris Christie can come up to DC and yell at Republicans.

  10. With Speaker Bonehead merging the republican party with the democrat party it’s just as well Senator DiMint goes to the Heritage foundation. It’s all one big socialist gubmint now.

  12. Passing By, with the correction you add in brackets above, you do at least acknowledge that Obama has been incapable of becoming presidential in this, rising above the bickering legislators (Republican House, Democratic Senate) and help forge a consensus.

  17. I love how the brainwashed Obama Nazis like Passing By make pointing out their ignorance of history so simple.

Passing By is just a typical Obama Goebbels wannabe, repeating the propaganda over and over again and demonstrating its total lack of intelligence, rationality, or thought. Ignorant Passing By doesn’t know anything other than what Obama tells it, and is incapable of in any way criticizing its Obama.

    Comment by North Dallas Thirty — December 6, 2012 @ 2:59 pm - December 6, 2012

  18. Passing By, since you insist that intelligent thought only comes from blind partisan obedience, such as yours towards Obama, your screaming at Dan Blatt to criticize Republicans only demonstrates that you are a hypocrite.

Once one realizes that Passing By is evaluating everything based only on its worship of Obama and its utter hatred of Republicans, it becomes quite easy to see it as the intellectual joke and abusive spouse wannabe that it is, a manipulative child and malicious bigot who doesn’t care about anything other than getting its way and is incapable of learning or intelligent discussion.

  19. Hey, Milbank, go pluck yourself!!!

    Comment by Richard Bell — December 6, 2012 @ 3:27 pm - December 6, 2012

  20. What Milbank considers to be “reason” obviously isn’t reason. Compromising with unreasonable people at the expense of a reasonable position isn’t reason.

    Comment by Rattlesnake — December 6, 2012 @ 3:42 pm - December 6, 2012

  21. So, leftists like Passing By demand that Republicans compromise with Democrats to “forge a consensus that [they] would like, based on [leftist] views.” And when they don’t, they are being “obstructionist,” but Democrats never are when they don’t compromise with Republicans.

When dealing with these sorts of irrational people, one should use Kurt Schlichter’s advice.

  25. Passing gas gassed and having farted, moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure Passing Gas back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears from the gas attack wash out a Word of it. [Apologies to Fitzgerald.]

Obama has floundered around voting present on the fiscal cliff waiting for the Republicans to put a plan on the table so he can demagogue it and blame the coming catastrophe on them.

Milbank and crowd are all trying to help The Won set up the blame game.

The fact of the matter is this: the real money from taxation is with the middle class. If the fiscal cliff occurs and if the Bush tax cuts expire, the taxes on the middle class go up by 33%. Presto! We have both a recession and a huge tax increase and the chaos the demagogues so desperately pine for.

And, they can blame it all on the Republicans for not giving Obama a tiny rate increase on the rich. Which, by the way would not offset a fraction of one percent of what he is loading on the non-existent budget in spending.

1.85. Remember that number. We have a ratio of 1.85 people in the working private sector economy to support all the tax paid government workers and the entitlement recipients.

$0.46. Remember that number. We borrow 46 cents of every government dollar we spend.

The idolators and idiots have some sort of special belief system that spending more and raising tax rates on the rich will make our run away deficit spending and collapsing economy better by some measurable degree.

Every Utopian scheme in history has ended in a dictatorship where the power brokers rule and crush the sheeple. This Obama myth is no different. The Progressives are haters and you can know them by what and who they hate and how they are dealing with those they do not tolerate.

Passing Gas is here to gloat. He is the vicious prison guard who enjoys shoving bamboo strips under your finger nails. He does it because he can. But, if he is overwhelmed and finds himself on the underdog side, he will change his identity and hide in the mountains and claim total innocence. Cowards with big badges are all the same. Japs, Nazis, Stasi, Gestapo, kids of Pol Pot, etc. are all cut from the same cloth. They swagger boldly when they have the power, but they run like cockroaches when the tables are turned.
