A Question for our Age

A Virtue Signaling Uber-Social Justice Wanker asks: “Why Can’t My Famous Gender Nonconforming Friends Get Laid?”

My guess: Because “gender non-conformity” is usually an outward sign of massive psychological issues and very few people are willing to date people with more baggage than Aretha Franklin on a European Tour unless there’s a lot of money involved.

The Ultimate Progressive Dream

The Chinese Communists are instituting a new system for monitoring the social behavior of all of its citizens. Each citizen will be assigned a score based on such behavior, and that score will determine everything in your life.

Imagine a world where an authoritarian government monitors everything you do, amasses huge amounts of data on almost every interaction you make, and awards you a single score that measures how “trustworthy” you are.

In this world, anything from defaulting on a loan to criticising the ruling party, from running a red light to failing to care for your parents properly, could cause you to lose points. And in this world, your score becomes the ultimate truth of who you are – determining whether you can borrow money, get your children into the best schools or travel abroad; whether you get a room in a fancy hotel, a seat in a top restaurant – or even just get a date.

This is not the dystopian superstate of Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, in which all-knowing police stop crime before it happens. But it could be China by 2020. It is the scenario contained in China’s ambitious plans to develop a far-reaching social credit system, a plan that the Communist Party hopes will build a culture of “sincerity” and a “harmonious socialist society” where “keeping trust is glorious.”

The government hasn’t announced exactly how the plan will work – for example, how scores will be compiled and different qualities weighted against one another. But the idea is that good behaviour will be rewarded and bad behaviour punished, with the Communist Party acting as the ultimate judge.

Let me be clear, the left absolutely adores China and adores it precisely because of its authoritarian Government. And they would love nothing more than to have this kind of system — the state monitoring your behavior constantly and dinging you for any act of political incorrectness. It would be the ultimate tool of social control.

Think I’m exaggerating? Ask Brendan Eich. Or Travis Kalanick. Or Curt Shilling.

This article actually came out last fall. I wonder why there hasn’t been more discussion of it.

How Does It Feel to be Suckered, Suckers?

The overhyped “Special Elections” in Georgia, Kansas, and Montana were basically money-laundering scams to get money from rich, dumb liberals in San Francisco and Silicon Valley to line the pockets of Democrat Consultants in DC.

The special elections scam was set up to funnel money from angry lefties to the infrastructure. Some $40 million was burned through on a dead end program. But it went to all the right people on the left.

Ossoff’s campaign was the final leg of the scam. He was the least promising candidate of all the Dems in all the red state special elections. But his backers weren’t really trying to win in Georgia, but to raise money in California and then take it back to Washington D.C. And Ossoff was perfectly suited for that.

That’s why the most money was raised and spent on his campaign.

Like Bernie Sanders, he was never really supposed to win. He was sucker bait. And the suckers bit hard enough to make a special election in a conservative district the most expensive House race in history.

Ossoff was a great way for Washington D.C. campaign pros to extract money from Bay Area lefties. His campaign had nine times more individual donations from California than from Georgia. He had almost four times more donations from nine Bay Area counties than all of Georgia.

The Dems lost and they’re laughing all the way to the bank.

The Clintons may be on the outs at the Democrat Party, but their legacy of greed and corruption remains.

Leftie juvenilia – with a smidge of progress

Watching lefties digest new political happenings is often like a scene from Harrison Bergeron, the dystopian future where no one is permitted to do anything skillfully.

Lefties are handicapped by their own needs and delusions, the poor dears. They can’t handle the truth. So they ignore large parts of it, fixate on a fragment or two, distort it, then fall over like a ballet dancer wearing unnecessary weights. Still, they might learn something – on the margins.

Laura Loomer and Jack Posobiec’s Shakespeare in the Park protest was somewhat new-ish: Conservatives bringing home the Left’s disruption tactics (though still being comparatively polite about it). At this link, you can watch Seth Myers and Amy Poehler struggle to address it.

As you’d expect, Myers and Poehler ignore the real context and point of the protest, making a laughable Straw Man out of it; then laugh dutifully, complete with wide eyes and shouting. It’s fine, it’s how they operate. As you’d expect. Except for one thing.

It does dawn on them that maybe people disrupting events isn’t what we all need and the Left should try to walk that one back. They slip in these words to their audience:

Free speech isn’t about just protecting speech you like. So, if you think it’s terrible to interrupt _Julius Caesar_, you have to think it’s terrible to interrupt Ann Coulter…She gets to speak too; liberals cannot be hypocrites when it comes to free speech…so, be OK with it when Ted Nugent says “President Obama can suck my machine gun.”

I left out the crap they wrapped around it. I’m saying, we can be grateful for the small things. Two leftie celebrities had a moment of self-awareness, and smuggled it into their audience. Will it take?

A Week Later, Democrats Are Still Inciting Violence Against Republicans. The Republican Obamacare “Repeal” Bill barely changes Obamacare at all, but that hasn’t stopped Liz “Fauxcahontas” Warren from pumping out hate propaganda to her stupid and violent followers:

I’ve read the Republican “health care” bill. This is blood money. They’re paying for tax cuts with American lives.

And it’s working, as demonstrated by the voice mail left for a Republican congressman.

“I’ve seen the prayer ya’ll were saying at the baseball diamond … I think ya’ll better hit your knees and pray for the people that you’re screwin’ up their lives,” the message stated, according to a criminal complaint filed by Capitol Police in U.S. District Court in Columbus.
“We’re coming to get every g**amn one of you and your families. Maybe the next one taken down will be your daughter. Huh? Or your wife. Or even you.”

There have been more than thirty threats made against Republican Congressmen since last month.

Health Insurance Question

Posted by V the K at 7:19 pm - June 22, 2017.
Filed under: Obama Health Care (ACA, Obamacare)

After weeks of closed door meetings, the Republican senate leadership has unveiled their “Obamacare Replacement” bill; which preserves everything in Obamacare that has driven the costs of health care skyward. The onerous regulations will remain, responsible people who buy insurance before they need it will still be gouged to pay for irresponsible people who don’t buy “insurance” until after they need it, the modest “opt out” provisions in the House Bill are gone, the subsidies will actually increase. The main thing it does is shuffle taxes around and bail out giant insurance companies.

More generally, it represents a failure to think beyond the confines of the law that is already in place. At a fundamental level, the Senate plan accepts Obamacare’s premises about the nature of health insurance and the individual market. It works from the assumption that the only way to make expensive health insurance cheaper is to subsidize it through the federal government. It is a plan that subsidizes, and therefore disguises, unaffordability, rather than attempting to bring down costs directly.

Precisely. The Republicans are really no different than the Democrats; they love Government and see Government as the solution to every problem.

Here’s what I don’t understand. To set this up, I don’t think the Government has any business regulating health insurance beyond protecting people from fraud. People should be able to work out any contractual arrangement with an insurance company they want. The Government’s only  role should be to enforce that arrangement should either party try to renege; which would be done through the judiciary, not the legislature. That’s what I believe, but apparently, I’m in the minority. All right, fine. So, the majority believes that the Government should be able to tell insurance companies what kinds of policies they have to sell.

OK, if that’s the parameters for this discussion … why would it be so BAD, even in that scheme… for the Government to set a Minimum Coverage Baseline that was just Catastrophic Coverage + one check up per year? People would be covered if they got cancer or had a heart attack or were attacked by a bear … big expensive stuff. And they could get an exam from a doctor once a year if they want. That wouldn’t cost much, and the minimum that anyone needs. And if you have a minor medical issue, you assume the risk of paying for it out of pocket. From that baseline, you could modularize coverage, paying more for prescription coverage, and more for mental health treatments, depending on what you think you might need in the future.

You may not personally like that choice… but why doesn’t the Government even allow that choice?

I kind of suspect that its the insurance companies that want the Government to force middle-aged gay men to pay for insurance that covers obstetrics and gynecology, and tee-totaling Mormons to buy coverage for alcohol and drug addictions. And forcing normal people to pay for sex reassignments for those with body dysphoria. Having the Government force people to buy sh-t they’re never going to use is sort of Crony Capitalism 101.

Here’s the scene: An attractive young woman attends a public event wearing a very short skirt. A man notices. Result: Outrage.

Aly Raisman found herself in an uncomfortable situation during Wednesday night’s NHL Awards when an aging hockey great made a leering comment about her legs.
Raisman, the 23-year-old gymnastics star, spoke about sharing the stage with “one of the old greats,” former Los Angeles Kings center Marcel Dionne, to present the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, an annual award for an NHL player who displays — irony alert — gentlemanly conduct.
The 65-year-old Hall of Famer then took the banter to a creepy new level.
“Thank you, thank you,” Dionne began. “And I am excited to be on stage with three-time Olympic medalist. Look at those legs.”

OK, a little creepy for a guy to be checking out a chick young enough to be his granddaughter, but she seems to have handled the incident with more grace than Post reporter Jaclyn Hendricks . Feminists claim — and therefore, the social justice left that dominates our culture must agree — that “the male gaze” is equivalent to rape. By “the male gaze,” they mean normal men doing what normal men do and checking out attractive women. Mainly, the women who object to “the male gaze” are not often checked out by normal men.

Can we be honest and just admit that every time people get outraged over something stupid, it diminishes the things we should actually get outraged about. If a feminist gets just as outraged over an old man checking out a woman’s legs as normal person should get outraged over like, I don’t know, actual rape… it diminishes the latter.

So, I guess, the point is, we have to stop getting outraged over minor stuff. Although that’s not how the internet works. You’re supposed to show outrage over trivial things because it shows how enlightened and “socially conscious” you are. And if you don’t show sufficient outrage, the Sensitivity Police might come after you.

After the jump is something extremely offensive. Deal with it as best you can.

This Is What Hate Speech Looks Like

Airstrip 1, as I reported earlier today, sent a man to prison for posting his nasty, violent thoughts about Muslims on Facebook. I think it is wrong for the state to punish people for speech; even this Posh Being.

Mere days after a Bernie Sanders supporter shot Congressman Steve Scalise and two black members of his police detail, a Connecticut professor posted a Medium article on Facebook declaring: “Let Them F*cking Die.” The professor went on to write that white people are “inhuman a**holes” who still prop up a “white supremacy system,” so black people should not help them if their lives are in danger.

“I’m fed the f*ck up with self identified ‘white’s’ [sic] daily violence directed at immigrants, Muslim, and sexual and racially oppressed people,” Johnny Eric Williams, associate professor of sociology at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., posted on Facebook Sunday. “The time is now to confront these inhuman a**holes and end this now.”

Let. Them. F*cking. Die.” For relish, the author added, “And smile a bit when you do. For you have done the universe a great service. Ashes to ashes. Dust to bigots.”

You may wonder how these people end up in Academia, but the truth is, the progressive leftists who run universities love violent, extreme leftists. Bill Ayers ended up with a plush job at the University of Illinois. In their minds, they are all little Che Guevara’s fighting for the noble cause of global socialism.

As for Professor Williams, he wants you to know that… he’s actually the victim.

“The black community is beside itself all over the country with the constant killing. It doesn’t matter what we do, we still be killed, we still go to jail. Just being black and living is a crime. That’s what seems to be the problem.”

He says the article in Medium covered “broader issues” in addition to calling for the violent deaths of white people. This is true, because the main thrust of the article is that blacks, LGBT’s, and others should be indifferent to any suffering or death suffered by white people, should never be civil or decent to white people in any way. (They’re way ahead of you on that at Evergreen State, maybe you should see if they have any openings.) The article’s “enlightened” view is that you only owe civility and decency to people who share your racial, cultural, or sexual identity. Morality isn’t individual, it’s collective.

Reading the comments to that Medium article, by the way, is pretty indicative of where the Social Justice Left is these days.

We could have millions of illegal votes?

V mentioned this as an aside; I think it’s worth a post. According to a new study, millions of noncitizens may be casting illegal votes. The study focuses on data from 2008, but one could extrapolate forward.

As many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, which put Barack Obama in the White House…

Just Facts President James D. Agresti and his team looked at data from an extensive Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters. Some acknowledge they are noncitizens and are thus ineligible to vote.

To be clear: The number of illegal votes could also be a something under 1 million.

[Old Dominion University] professors, who stand by their work in the face of attacks from the left, concluded that in 2008 as few as 38,000 and as many as 2.8 million noncitizens voted.

Mr. Agresti’s analysis of the same polling data settled on much higher numbers. He estimated that as many as 7.9 million noncitizens were illegally registered that year and 594,000 to 5.7 million voted.

The point is: the number, whatever it is, is much greater than the “zero” claimed by some on the Left. The article goes on to discuss why Agresti’s estimation techniques are more realistic.

Clearly, the science is not settled. These matters need further study. AND, our election offices and practices must always guard against illegal voting.

It’s plausible to suppose that most illegals would vote Democrat. Hopefully, Republicans will be doing something useful on this, over the next 18 months:

Last month, the president signed an executive order setting up a commission to try to find on-the-ground truth in illegal voting. Headed by Vice President Mike Pence, the panel also will look at outdated voter lists across the nation with names of dead people and multiple registrants.

Manphobia hits new lows

In left-wing Berlin, Germany, we now have a crackdown on advertising that would dare to depict women as “nurturing, happy to do housework, beautiful, addicted to shopping” or men as “rational, aggressive, technologically gifted”.

Get it? Ads must feature unpleasant, unattractive, angry feminists disposing of pathetically weak and foolish men.

Boys must not be shown as “liking sports, the colour blue, and playing with technology”. According to these German feminists(!), girls are so stupid and deficient by nature that when they “see images of heterosexual housewives, the consequence is that they cannot imagine themselves outside this framework.”

Meanwhile in Madrid, they banned ‘manspreading’. Because God Forfend that a man on a bus should sit a bit comfortably. Crowder explains it to women and gets some to admit to the existence of female privilege.

Democrats Have New Allies in Effort to Oust Trump

The Islamic Supremacist Government of Iran is coming to the aid of Democrats (and DIABLO Republicans) in their efforts to drive Donald Trump out of his legitimately elected office.

A senior Iranian leader and confidant of the Islamic Republic’s president is threatening to “depose” President Donald Trump if he continues his policy of confronting Iran and its terror proxy groups in the Middle East, according to recent comments that come as Iranian military leaders threaten missile strikes on U.S. forces and bases in the region.

I guess all those billions of dollars in baksheesh Barack Obama paid to the mullahs turned out to be a pretty good investment on the Democrat side.

Well, the Democrats spent about $40M to try and win a seat in a purplish district and failed. Pajama Boy not only underperformed Hillary in the district; he got fewer votes than the 2016 Democrat candidate in 2016.

So, maybe they need to up the ante and, in 2018, spend $50M on each of the 25 districts they need to retake the House. A cool $1.25 Billion. (About what Hillary spent in 2016, BTW.)

One potential fly in the ointment… the Democrat Party is broke and had a terrible fundraising month in May.

Many Democrats really believe that recruiting clones of Liz Warren and Kamala Harris and engaging in more street violence will help them flip red districts in the Midwest to blue. It won’t.

Nothing preps you for next election more than concluding your team is too virtuous to win & voters are too evil or dumb to see the truth. – Jonah Goldberg

A few Democrats recognize that normal Americans care about the economy, (also, border security, and protecting civil society from terrorism {the Trump agenda}). Not a phony, “Russia Russia Russia” scandal ginned up by Hillary Clinton campaign operatives after losing an election, or phony, virtue-signaling issues like Transgender locker rooms for teenagers. But all of the money and power in the Democrat Party is held by wealthy people in Washington, New York, San Francisco, and Chicago.

(BTW: It also looks like Trump was right about illegal voters. There may have been five million or more of them in the 2016 election.)

Honestly, the best shot the Democrats have at retaking the House and Senate in 2018 is for Republicans to continue to sabotage the Trump agenda. The Republican Establishment may despise PDT, but Republican voters want border security, want tax and regulatory reform to help grow the economy, want a revitalized manufacturing sector, and want a rational policy response to the growing threat of Islamic Supremacist terror. If Republicans in Congress don’t deliver on this agenda, then they will bodily function away their majority.  The only question is whether they hate Trump more than they love their phony-baloney jobs.

At least some Democrats had something to be happy about in Georgie’s 6th CD.

A firm started by former insiders for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) hauled in millions of dollars from the failed campaign of Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff, Federal Election Commission records show.

Fools. Money. Some parting required.

Also, this

A precinct captain for Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff’s congressional campaign complained recently that many of his constituents are hard to reach because they still live at home with their parents.

Snort.

Steve Scalise update

Per The Hill this morning, he has been upgraded from Serious to Fair condition.

I didn’t see this coming: Bono gives Scalise a shout-out. Meaning something positive.

“You’ve been through some troubling days here with the shooting in Alexandria,” Bono says on-stage in the video. “We are so grateful that Congressman Scalise and his comrades made it through. So grateful. We hold them up, as love holds us all up.”

…U2 performed Tuesday night in Hyattsville, Maryland, at FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins. FedExField is located about 19 miles northeast of Alexandria.

But they’re still stuck on a motive for the shooting. ABC’s article is totally silent on it. The Hill’s article touches on it in a way that disguises the truth:

The FBI said Wednesday that the shooter, who died shortly after sustaining injuries in a confrontation with police, worked alone and that the incident had “no nexus to terrorism.”

The agency also confirmed Hodgkinson had a paper list containing six lawmakers’ names, although they said they would not classify it as a “hit list.”

So, the FBI is politically correct? Yikes! Reminder:

  • The “six names” were a hit list.
  • They were all GOP – and specifically, the (rare) anti-Establishment, pro-liberty type of GOP known as the House Freedom Caucus.
  • The failed murderer, James T. Hodgkinson, was a “Bernie bro” who wanted to kill them for political reasons and terrorize conservatives.

From the comments: James reminds us that Bono has kinda-sorta been getting sensible for awhile. Nice to see!

A woman beat a white male who was funded by wealthy interests; the feminists can put away their pink hats, now.

The left is now claiming the reason they spent $30-40 Million dollars and lost in purple district that just barely went Trump is because their candidate was too conservative. And so, their thinkers are telling them they need to move even harder to the left. Reparations for Transgender Vegans! Free airline tickets for anyone wanting to immigrate to the USA! 112% tax rates on the rich! State-run health care!

Best thing that could come out of the #GA06 results is for Democratic Party to finally give up its self-destructive obsession with centrism

In another words, run an Elizabeth Warren/Kamala Harris clone for every senate seat and a Maxine Waters clone for every House seat. In their estimation, Middle America is hungering for more socialist elitists from the bluest parts of the east and west coast to tell us what to do.

Also, keep calling red state voters “toxic, vindictive bigots.”

Update and Bump: Democrat who spent more money than anyone in history on a House seat (mostly outsider money) laments that there is too much money in politics.

The role of money in politics is a major problem and particularly the role of unchecked anonymous money. There have been super PACs in Washington who have been putting up tens of millions of dollars of attack ads in air for months now.

He claims it was his opponent who used PAC money, but his donations included $820,000 from Planned Parenthood; $820,000 from the left-wing “House Majority PAC;” $256,000 from Moveon.org; $88,000 from NARAL (pro-abortion PAC); and dozens of other left-wing groups who wanted to make PDT feel sad.

Also, Pajama Boy vastly outspent his opponent (and he got tons of free media on his behalf) and still lost.

UpdateDemocrats blame “hacking” for the loss? Seriously?

German Police raided 36 homes to punish people for saying things the state disapproves of in social media.

In a coordinated campaign across 14 states, the German police on Tuesday raided the homes of 36 people accused of hateful postings over social media, including threats, coercion and incitement to racism.

Most of the raids concerned politically motivated right-wing incitement, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office, whose officers conducted home searches and interrogations. But the raids also targeted two people accused of left-wing extremist content, as well as one person accused of making threats or harassment based on someone’s sexual orientation.

“The still high incidence of punishable hate posting shows a need for police action,” Holger Münch, president of the Federal Criminal Police Office, said in a statement.

The CNN crew watches the results of the special election in Georgia’s 6th congressional district; where a defeat of a Republican by a Democrat with limitless funding in a purplish congressional district was supposed to signal the end of Donald Trump or something.

Republicans picked up a win in South Carolina’s 5th CD as well. Both of them were won by Republican establishment types who will slavishly do the bidding of the financiers and donor class. So, forgive me for not getting too excited.

Anyway, in Donald Trump’s Handmaid’s Tale America, Republicans have just sent another woman to congress. Sorry, narrative.

It is kind of fun that wealthy Democrats blew something north of $30 million to lose this election. Probably closer to or greater than $40 million. 95% of Democrat Job “Pajama Boy” Ossoff’s funding came from outta state; mostly New York and California.

I am just pondering the irony now that people in the throes of faux outrage about “Russian meddling” in American elections… spent millions of dollars and sent volunteers down to meddle in an election in a district none of them live in. Is that irony? Or is it just hypocrisy?

California Senator Endorses Antifa Tactics

According to California Senator Dianne Feinstein, if Antifa demands that a college not allow a conservative speaker to speak, the college should not allow the speaker to speak. Because public safety.

After reading aloud the First Amendment in her opening remarks, Sen. Feinstein said, “The fact of the matter is that there are certain occasions on which individuals assemble not to act peaceably, but to act as destructively as they possibly can.” She went on to say, “When you have a set group of people that come to create a disturbance, some of them even wearing masks or wearing certain clothing, what do you do?” Feinstein said police aren’t always equipped to handle this situation making it “a horse of another color.” She concluded, “I do believe that the university has a right to protect its students from demonstrations once they become acts of violence.”

In other words, give Antifa what they want; censorship power over speech.

And just kind of hope that after successfully using violence to achieve one goal, they will never use it again to achieve any other goals.

How fake is CNN? At least this fake (part 2)

Just to follow up on part 1 about CNN openly staging a fake protest that they’d wanted, here’s a nifty list.

YouTube Preview Image

Like all such lists, it suffers from being anecdotal and agenda-driven. And (in this case) badly mis-titled. Some (hi rusty 😉 ) won’t like it that the list comes from Cernovich.

But I’m interested in what’s in it. I have seen most of these instances myself, at one time or another. I think it’s silly to trust CNN. If people ask me why, here are some of the examples I’d point to.

  • The time CNN warned that it’s somehow illegal for ordinary citizens to look at the leaked DNC and Podesta emails. (It isn’t. So, look all you want.)
  • The time they had a camera man pose as a random guy on the street and broadcast his pro-Hillary rant.
  • The time CNN lied that Loretta Lynch had “recused herself” from any decisions on the Clinton e-mail investigation. (She didn’t. She should have.)
  • The time(s) CNN spread the fake “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” meme. (Shot of an entire CNN panel doing it.)
  • The time CNN, broadcasting from a studio with blue screen and fake wind, pretended it was on-location in the Gulf War.
  • The time CNN claimed that Muslim terrorist bombings in Europe are done by “false flag” right-wingers.
  • The time Jake Tapper told a Navy Seal he was interviewing, that his all buddies had died for nothing.
  • The time CNN let a guest claim that “rogue cops shoot black people for sport”.
  • The time a CNN anchor expressed joy at Sarah Palin’s children being assaulted.
  • The times that CNN edited #BlackLivesMatter activists, who were calling for rage and violence, to make it appear as if they were somehow peaceful.
  • The time a CNN anchor praised a cop-killer as “brave and courageous”.
  • The time CNN had 2 reporters in the same parking lot in Phoenix and faked it, split-screen, to pretend they were in different locations.
  • The time they did a voter focus group and openly stated the precise words that they wanted a certain voter to say next.
  • The many times CNN cut a guest’s satellite feed if they strayed too far from CNN’s preferred narrative.
    • The guy they cut for mentioning Jesus.
    • The time they cut Bernie Sanders after he jokingly referred to CNN as Fake News.
    • The time they cut a guest for mentioning Wikileaks.
    • The time they cut a reporter who started talking about Hillary’s negatives or “vulnerabilities”.
  • The way that, when CNN cuts a guest who strayed too far from their preferred narrative, they pretend it’s somehow accidental.

The list is incomplete of course. It didn’t even get around to some stuff like:

And more that I could probably find, if I searched GP archives.
