“It’s Complicated”

The Democrat Media Operation known as ‘Politico’ wants its readers to know that the $17 Million Taxpayer Fund that congressmen have been using to payout sexual harassment and discrimination claims… actually isn’t a big deal. You see, “it’s complicated.”

But the reality of what critics lambaste as a sexual harassment “slush fund” is more complicated, like much about Congress’ policy for handling harassment complaints. The money covers all sorts of settlements, just not for sexual harassment, and some lawmakers cut their own side deals with accusers.

What this tells me is that the payoffs for sexual misconduct were primarily on the Democrat side. The Democrat Media Complex has a pattern of simplifying scandals that hurt Republicans into tight soundbites, but working overtime to make Democrat scandals mundane, complicated, and products of Republican conspiracies. “Donald Trump colluded with Russia!” versus “Republicans attacked Hillary Clinton for alleged use of a private email server while Secretary of State.”

The Beta Male Sexual Assailant

If you look at Mark Halperin, Glenn Thrush, Harvey Weinstein, Al Franken and the other feminist sexual predators and thought, “None of these guys could bench press 80 lbs without a spot,” you may have been on to something.

The growing pile of confession notes — which combine ostensible empathy and promises of sensitivity and submission with strategically placed, lawyerly denials — testifies to the grimly comic dishonesty of the Beta Male sexual harasser. He thought that he could continue to indulge his appetites as long as he adjusted his attitudes, a view that all of the prattle about “systemic change” confirms him in, insofar as it treats his misbehavior as an ideological problem rather than a moral one. Implied in many of the confession notes from the harassers is the ludicrous suggestion that with a little more “education,” with a few more training seminars, with a little more consciousness-raising, they would have behaved virtuously. This pose allows them to escape moral responsibility and painlessly join the “solution.” The sexual revolution’s massive crisis of unchastity is thus turned into a “problem of power” that can be remedied by the hiring of more female executives, the expansion of HR departments, and “better” education.

Meanwhile, a feminist has made a name for herself by proclaiming that the desctruction of innocent men is good for the sisterhood.

Here’s an unpopular opinion: I’m actually not at all concerned about innocent men losing their jobs over false sexual assault/harassment allegations.

The Mike Pence Rule has never looked better, has it?

The Clinton-Franken Pass

New York Times: Al Franken and Other Democrats Should Be Given a Pass Because They Are Too Important to the Left-Wing Agenda.

It’s possible that feminists, in trying to hold Democrats to standards that they wish were universal, risk unilateral disarmament. Kate Harding made this case in The Washington Post last Friday, arguing against Franken’s resignation. If Democrats “set this precedent in the interest of demonstrating our party’s solidarity with harassed and abused women, we’re only going to drain the swamp of people who, however flawed, still regularly vote to protect women’s rights and freedoms,” she wrote. And when the next Democratic member of Congress goes down, there might not be a Democratic governor to choose his replacement.

It’s a strange political fiction that anyone can really separate partisanship from principle. In general, the character of the party that controls the government has a much greater impact on people’s lives than the character of individual representatives. Those who care about women’s rights shouldn’t be expected to prove it by being willing to hand power to people devoted to taking those rights away.

In other words, the same person who last week was calling for Franken’s resignation now has reaffirmed her loyalty to the Party above all else.

LA Times: The human side of Charlie Manson (Charlie?)

Manson, though, was no devil but a human being, as his death makes clear. I don’t say that to soften or absolve him. But I don’t believe in demons; people are frightening enough. Indeed, to accept Manson as a person, to see him through the filter of his humanity, is to acknowledge what we resist: that he was perhaps not so utterly different from the rest of us.

I would tend to disagree with the emphasized part.

This is the kind of stupid excrement you can only write if you have absolutely nothing left but moral relativism. Trump is Hitler, “Charlie” Manson was just a regular guy. Same thing, basically.

Leftists Blame Trump for Violence on the Left

The New Yorker says all of those violent attacks … Rand Paul getting beat up by a socialist neighbor, Congressional Republicans getting shot by a crazed leftist, deranged leftist running a Tennessee congressman off the road with her car… all this violence is because of Donald Trump.

The attack on Rand Paul by his neighbor reveals a sinister banality of American life that, these days, is often emanating from Donald Trump.

The violence is not emanating from PDT, although it is a response to the violent left being thwarted at the gate from the total, autocratic power they have long craved and would have had under President Felonia von Coverup. The real “sinister banality” comes from a left-wing so bitter, so frustrated, and so obsessed with power that they defend violent Antifa fascists as heroes equivalent to those who stormed the beaches at D-Day and will even defend a violent murderous street gang whose motto is ‘kill, rape and control’ against criticism by PDT.

And let’s not leave the extreme rhetoric of high-ranking Democrats out of this equation. “Republicans want to deny people access to health care!” “Republicans want to put black people in chains!” “Republicans want to outlaw contraception!” “Republicans want to electrocute gay teenagers!” “Republicans want to institute a ‘Handmaids Tale’ society!” What else can come of shouting apocalyptic rhetoric at violent and stupid people but violence?

I’ve watched unfairly bracketed w/ accused serial sexual predators. He & I’ve been family friends for decades. As a comic, he could be crude. He went too far (& apologized). BUT: he’s NOT predatory, adores his wife & family & is a lifelong champion of women’s rights.

Jake Tapper and Bernie Sanders

Sanders on whether Al Franken should resign: “My understanding is that Al is a very popular senator. People in Minnesota think that he is doing a good job. And his political future will rest with the people of Minnesota.”

You see, when a Republican gets in trouble, the Democrat Media Complex demands that other Republicans denounce him, so he can be separated from the herd and killed. When a Democrat gets in trouble, other Democrats are encouraged to defend him, unless his behavior becomes so egregious that Democrat power is threatened. Then, he is cut loose.

A lot of people consider Trump’s tweeting to be immature, combative, and unpresidential. You can bet if Kasich or Jeb had been elected (no way either of them would have beaten Hillary, IMHO), they would have done nothing about the Iran Deal, illegal immigration, regulatory reform, or undoing Obama’s Executive Orders, but you can bet their Twitter feeds would be scrupulously polite and deferential to Democrats and the media; IOW “Presidential.”

But this one guy sees more ‘The Art of War’ than the ‘Art of the Deal’ in Trump’s tweets. Take it away, Imperator Rex:

Allow me to Summarize this Feminist Writing in the Washington Post: What Al Franken Did Is Totally, Like, Rape Culture, But I’ll Give Him a Pass Because Partisan Politics Is More Important.”

The best part is where she says she is sure other Democrats in the Senate assaulted women and she doesn’t want them to lose their seats to Republicans, because that would be bad for women or something.

If I believed for one second that Franken is the only Democrat in the Senate who has done something like this, with or without photographic evidence, I would see that as the best and most appropriate option. But in the world we actually live in, I’m betting that there will be more. And more after that. And they won’t all come from states with Democratic governors and a deep bench of progressive replacements. Some will, if ousted, have their successors chosen by Republicans.

Y’know, Al Franken never should have been in the senate anyway; he got his seat through a combination of recount shenanigans and illegal felon voting. But, whatever.

The left is continuing the time-honored tradition of smearing and shaming a woman who accused a powerful Democrat of inappropriate behavior.  Also, here. So much for the “Gee, What we excused Bill and Hillary Clinton for when they had power is no longer OK” narrative.

Women in power would solve all these sexual harassment problems, because women never sexually harass anyone and never abuse political power, right? Wrong!

Meanwhile, a university has canceled a play about the dangers of censorship because it offended… who else?… the Social Justice Wankers. The best part is the play was never even staged and the offended wankers never even read the script.

An outraged Brandeis grad took to Facebook to declare “Buyer Beware” “an overtly racist play [that] will be harmful to the student population if staged.” The alum wrote this post without having read a word of the script, and was seemingly not embarrassed by her actions. (“I don’t need to read the actual language to know what it’s about,” she told the Hoot.)

And those who did read it where mainly offended that a straight white man wrote it.

“The issue we have with it is that [Michael Weller] is an older, straight gendered, able-bodied and white man,” Child said in a phone interview with the student paper. “It isn’t his place to be stirring the pot.”

Also, Yup.

Al Franken: What a Creep, Possibly

Radio talk-host accuses Democrat Senator and 2020 Presidential Possibility Al Franken of groping her and making unwanted sexual advances during a USO Tour in 2006.

He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said ‘OK’ so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.

I don’t know if the allegation is true, and neither do you. But is the ‘New Rules’ are to be applied consistently, Al Franken must be ousted from the Senate even if the charges are false because this misconduct, if it happened or even if it didn’t, is so severe and degrading. And not just because (as Peter H reminds us) Al Franken called for the murder of LGBTs.

“I just don’t like homosexuals. If you ask me, they’re all homosexuals in the Pudding. Hey, I was glad when that Pudding homosexual got killed in Philadelphia.” The smile became so broad it pushed his eyes shut. He couldn’t stand it any longer.

Update: A Feminist defends Al Franken because he’s a Democrat.

I am sincerely arguing that we should not force a Democrat to resign for sexually abusing a woman, because I know Republicans never will, and that once the first Democrat goes, R’s next move is finding shady Ds from states with R governors.

The Democrat Media Complex is solidly in Al Franken’s corner. Just as I said they would be.

The Media Lie, and Nobody Trusts Them

Yup.

We were told that the black man shot in Ferguson was holding his hands up to surrender.

We were told that many women had been assaulted by Trump but the fact that they all apparently disappeared after the election makes reasonable people wonder if there was a wolf.

The media can’t stop talking about Russian colluding with Trump even though after months and months of investigation absolutely nothing has been found.

The media also told us that the Duke Lacrosse team raped a woman and Trayvon Martin was an innocent schoolboy shot in cold blood by a trigger happy racist.

The lies the media tell conspicuously favor one point of view over another.

We know that the media ignored a credible claim that Bill Clinton raped a woman.

We know that the media ignores the fact that thousands of blacks are shot each year in Democrat-run cities.

We know that the media has refused to cover the clear evidence that Hillary colluded with Russia when she was secretary of state and that her campaign colluded with the Russians to fake dirt on Trump.

Can we at least be honest enough to admit that — regardless of what the truth of the matter is — the Roy Moore story is a carefully timed hit-piece by a Democrat-run media apparatus intended to take down a Republican candidate before a major election and that the media would never do this to a Democrat?

David Alcon, who is running for an open congressional seat in New Mexico, was arrested this past Friday on a felony stalking charge after a woman accused him of sending her frightening and lewd text messages and showing up at her home. Alcon was previously convicted of stalking his exgirlfriend in 2007 and was described as “infatuated” and “clearly obsessed” by the judge in the case.

According to a search of the television database TV Eyes, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC have given zero onair coverage to Alcon’s arrest. The networks have also not published any stories about Alcon’s scandal on their websites in the past week.

You don’t have to be a defender of Roy Moore (and I’m not)  to admit that the MFM hype some scandals and ignore others based on partisan bias, you just have to be intellectually honest.

Big Government Kills People

Whenever someone like me says, “You know, Government is too big, too expensive, and costs too much and we should take a hard look at the things Government does badly and remove Government from doing those things,” the inevitable response from the Progressive Left is, “So, you want to destroy the Government and live under Somalian warlords.” Because, obviously, there is no middle ground between gigantic Government with armies of bureaucrats invading every aspect of life and living in burned out cities under the control of warlords. (Which is also kind of what you get when you have unrestrained progressive left governance, but I digress.)

But anyway, one thing the progressive left insists on is that the Food and Drug Administration is absolutely essential because without it, corporations would poison our food and drugs because killing and sickening your customer base means only one thing… massive profits. (Progressives… really don’t get how business or economics works.)

But consider this: The FDA is a gigantic Government bureaucracy with monopolistic control over the USA’s supply of medicinal drugs. Here’s the death-count of people who died while waiting for FDA bureaucrats to approve drugs that had already been proven safe and effective.

  • 40,000 people died of colo-rectal cancer while the FDA stalled approval of the drug Eloxatin.
  • 179,000 people dead from cancer while FDA stalled approval of the drug Erbitux.
  • 74,000 patients with terminal cancers died while FDA stalled approval of the drug Revlimid.
  • 20,000 patients with kidney cancer while FDA stalled approval of the drugs Nexavar and Sutent
  • 360,000 lung and colo-rectal cancer patients died while FDA stalled approval of the drug Avastin.
  • 102,000 lung cancer patients died while FDA stalled approval of the drug Tarceva .
  • 26,000 patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma while FDA stalled approval of the drug Bexxar
  • 249,000 lung cancer patients died while FDA stalled approval of the drug Alimta

It seems axiomatic that if a person is faced with a terminal illness, they and their physician should have access to any reasonably available treatment. Even if the drug doesn’t work, how would a terminal patient be any worse off for trying it. But the primary mission of any bureaucracy is to grow and perpetuate itself. The FDA doesn’t give a damn about cancer patients; it gives a damn about growing its workforce and its budget. Promptly approving cancer drugs does not achieve that objective.

A Sad and Stupid Way to Die

It’s really not a failure of trust so much as a failure of common sense; the common sense not to get drunk and play the game of trust on the roof of a tall building.

An Australian diplomat died after he plummeted from a Manhattan building during a game of trust, police said.

Simpson later offered to prove his trustworthiness to the man by playing a game of “trust fall” on an apartment terrace. He went to a ledge and leaned back, but as he grabbed for the man’s hand, he slipped and fell to a second-floor landing, police said.

Simpson and a number of other people were on the roof of the building to look at the Empire State Building, which was lit up in rainbow colors in recognition of a survey that found most Australians support marriage equality, when Simpson swung a woman around, angering her husband, according to police.

Law enforcement sources told News 4 that Simpson and the others may have been drinking at the time of the accident.

“Nobody Wants to Take Your Guns”

This Boston Globe editor apparently did not get the memo. Democrats are supposed to deny that they want to confiscate guns from law-abiding people… until they’ve put in place a national gun registry, outlawed semi-automatic weapons, outlawed magazines of greater than five rounds, require “universal background checks” so you can be sent to Federal PMITA Prison for loaning your daughter a handgun so she can protect herself from a crazy stalker ex-boyfriend, made it illegal to purchase ammunition without a state-issued license … only then can they admit that these were all incremental steps toward outlawing citizen ownership of firearms.

But here’s this guy giving away the game.

Ultimately, if gun-control advocates really want to stanch the blood, there’s no way around it: They’ll have to persuade more people of the need to confiscate millions of those firearms, as radical as that idea may now seem.
