The world is a better place with you in it. Our house is definitely different now! *grin*
Happy Birthday to the One Year Old!
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
Here are the pups….. in order of seniority:
Saxby.
Shadow.
Marley.
All say “woof” and send their doggy breath in love…
Shadow and Marley are hitting the bottle already…
Saxby could care less….
The Pooches wish everyone a Happy New Year!
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
I sincerely apologize for the lack of posting on my part the past few weeks. Up until last Saturday, it was mostly all due to a significant increase in my work-related responsibilities.
Then came Marley….

So now I’m officially wiped out! Marley is 3 months old and 23 pounds and quite a handful — but worth every minute. Oh, and the original PatriotPooches — Saxby & Shadow — are adapting well, if not completely understanding. I keep telling them that Marley is change you can believe in. (Saxby growled at that remark)
Anyway I’m sorry for my blog-tardiness. I’ll try my best to catch up. You can always find my immediate thoughts at Twitter.
Have a great weekend everyone. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
UPDATE (from Dan): While I don’t have a new puppy, I have had a number of obligations today and yesterday which has caused my blogging to be slower than it has been in recent days, so I join Bruce in wishing y’all a great weekend and will try to get a few posts up on Saturday and Sunday. Note, I say, “try.”
A dog’s smile is always a good way to forget about the headlines in today’s world.
Saxby says “Hi.”

After his help in pushing his namesake over the top in the US Senate race in Georgia, one of our readers asked to see a “happy picture” of Saxby.
Wish granted.
-Bruce (GayPatriot)

There’s not much to add to this sentiment from Mark Levin’s new book, Rescuing Sprite. (h/t – The Corner)
I think there is something special about dogs. There’s a special connection or bond between humans and dogs. It’s as if dogs exist to bring people happiness. They teach us about life, loyalty, joy, trust, responsibility, and laughter. They help us clear out all the clutter that surrounds our busy lives and focus on what’s really important. They tell us it’s okay to take time to play sock-pull or have a catch, make silly noises, and enjoy yourself despite all the pressures we adult humans have deal with. Let me put it this way: Dogs are not pets. Dogs are family.
And while we are on the topic of recommending dog-related books….

…this one is a must-read and a serious tearjerker. You will fall in love with Marley, I assure you.

hi. i’m shadow. i’m kind of young to be on the intranets but john-dad is out and i found this neat laptop on the table.
*chews on mouse cord*
anyway, i wanted to say hello. i can’t stay long because john-dad might come home and get mad. and anyway i have to go chew on my brother saxby’s ears and bite his feet until he chases me around the house a bit.

he’s a cool brother to have.
bye.

i wanted to let all of my dad’s readers know that i will accept any type of tasty food as presents for myself. please send attention “saxby”.
thank you.
ps – we are all tired of shopping.

It has been a very long week for the humans in the house. I’ve been traveling for work since last Saturday. And most of yesterday, I had the honor to spend the entire day in BWI Airport due to the nasty East Coast weather. So I’m turning over the reins of the blog to the PatriotPooches: Saxby (the big guy) and Shadow (the little one).

Hey everyone, please welcome Shadow to the GayPatriot family. Saxby decided he liked her….. and she really likes him — I can tell because she is constantly biting on his ears and neck.
Aside from a move that a spayed male dog isn’t supposed to make (*rolling eyes*)…. he has been great with her and she is definitely tiring him out (for once!). I’m hoping to get photos of both of them together by week’s end.
For now, I think I’m more tired than the dogs who have been playing constantly. So I’m hoping to catch up on some sleep!
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
Saxby and I are taking a road trip tonight. Our first stop: Greensboro, NC for the Carolina FreedomNet 2006 blogger conference tomorrow.
Then after the conference we continue north to Richmond, VA where Saxby will interview the candidate to become his new sister — Shadow. If all goes well, there will be two PatriotPooches again on Sunday as we head back to Charlotte.
“Ummm….. Dad. Did you just say something about a sister?”
-Bruce (GayPatriot)
Um….Dad…. I’m really sorry about the whole nose injury thing on Saturday. You know I just get excited when you play with me. I don’t get to see you a lot…..so I just get all jumpy and love to bite on your face.
Anyway, I hope you are doing okay in California. OtherDad took me to the doggie daycare today. I can’t wait to see you both again next weekend. OtherDad told me Grandma is coming. That means more food for me!
Well, this has taken me a while to write since it is hard to type with my paws. So I think I’ll just relax now and look for some food scraps on the floor. Or maybe I’ll just go to sleep.

I miss you Dad!
