Friday night odds and ends

It amazes me how many legit stories I have to skip over each day, for brevity or lack of time. As I made the following list, I skipped over many other worthwhile items.

  • 53 House Democrats told Defense Secretary Mattis to not comply with the transgender ban.

“We write to not only express our strong opposition to President Trump’s recent tweets seeking to ban transgender individuals from the military, but to remind you not to comply with any unconstitutional directive which may ultimately be issued,” according to the letter, which was signed by Armed Services ranking member Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., and Judiciary ranking member Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich.

  • Attorney General Sessions is finally going to look into all those leaks.

Session said criminals who have leaked classified information are “being investigated and will be prosecuted.” He added that four people have already been charged with leaking classified material and related counts, and investigations have tripled.

Sessions said he has directed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and new FBI Director Christopher Wray to oversee all classified leak investigations and actively monitor the progress.

He said a new counterintelligence unit has been created to manage cases, and he has directed the National Security Division and U.S. attorneys to prioritize cases involving unauthorized disclosures.

There’s some brouhaha over more aggressive subpoenas on reporters, but they’re still mainly going after the actual leakers. Which is right.

  • AG Sessions is finally going to look at Obama’s government slush fund for left-wing groups.

…[The DOJ’s] “cy pres” payments were a long-standing policy of having mostly corporate defendants, for example in a civil rights suit, agree to pay into charities as part of their settlement with the government to avoid further prosecution.

In recent years, especially during the Obama administration, the practice increasingly funneled funds to left-wing “community organizing” groups…

…Sessions…put a stop to the payments unilaterally in June…The new memo, dated July 28, goes further, commanding DOJ attorneys to look back into the history of these settlements and report back every payment that would not meet the new standards laid down in June.

  • The rumors of NSA McMaster having a ‘purge list’ have made it into the White House staff, rattling them.
  • Alex Jones and Mike Cernovich got wild today with talk of the Deep State planning to outright-assassinate Trump, which could seem like irresponsible speculation, until you see stories like this one: Maxine Waters says ‘When We Finish With Trump, We Have to Go and Get’ Pence.

A coup isn’t being planned, could never happen here, that’s ridiculous, don’t spread horrible rumors you liars…..Folks, should we go with that idea? Or: leading Democrats are telling the military to disobey President Trump (see first item, above) and already looking forward to phase 2 of the coup, ‘Get Pence’? Which is it?

I hope to do a post later on the week’s Awan Scandal news.

This is one perspective, and I know of no reason it should be considered illegitimate. I tend to agree that the reason for forcing the military to accept transgendered people is an emotional one. “It’s not fair!” is the tantrum-cry of a spoiled child, not a reason-based argument. To me, the question is whether the military will be better at its primary mission if transgendered people are in it. That should be the only question in consideration of what the rules ought to be.

At the link, Caitlyn Jenner defends President Trump and expresses a belief in limited government and making the U.S. a better place to do business.

Of course I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I’m glad to see Jenner saying sensible political things to a left-leaning audience. On the other hand, I know that Jenner has willingly served as either a source, or at least a mascot, for some of the rather foolish Transgender Fever that has swept America in the last year or two.

As to transgenders in general: I’m glad when they stand up for their legitimate rights as any human should – for example, practicing self-defense skills with Pink Pistols – and, I’m not glad when adult biological men think they have a right to impose their brand of political correctness on others, take over girls’ bathrooms, etc.

Overall, file this one under “People Are Complex”.

Well, all-righty then.

99 Problems But a Glitch in My Sexual Identity Ain’t One

Pity the lesbian whose partner decided to jump on the trendier Transgender train.

What does an almost forty-year-old, out and proud lesbian do when her partner comes out as a transgender male? I don’t really know. I can only tell you what this lesbian chose to do: I chose to stay. I chose to stay because, when I really got honest, if Simon was a boy, he’d always been a boy, whether I’d acknowledged it or not.

I chose to stay because Simon is brave, kind, honest and loving ways in ways that Amy could never quite muster up the openness, the transparency, to be. I chose to stay to honor the family that we created together. I chose to stay because I can’t imagine my life without him.

When I begin to overanalyze what staying with Simon means for my lesbian identity, I get a little panicked. Losing the lesbian label feels a bit like losing part of myself.

Hey, you got attention out of it, and accolades for being “so brave.” Count it as a win.

Sane People Not Welcome

Rush Limbaugh did a piece this week on how the impetus of the Democrat Left is to force society to accept dysfunction as normal. He has a point.

A transgender activist (oh, boy, you see those two words together and you know you’re about to hit high Octane crazy)  named Zinnia Jones went on a Twitter tear attacking straight men who don’t want to date chicks with dicks.

“I don’t see a problem with telling straight guys who are exclusionary of trans women partners that they should try to work through that.

Being exclusionary of trans women partners should be an outlier and marginal position for straight men, not some commonplace expectation.

I also don’t believe the blanket claim of ‘straight men don’t want to be with someone who has a dick!’

There’s some baseline rate for that as an actual true preference. But it’s artificially inflated by social stigma and biases.

It’s subject to the effect of *incredible* numbers of straight men who want us but refuse to ever admit to it, and cover it with transphobia.

Do the majority straight men really secretly lust for chicks with dicks, and its only society’s stigma that keeps them from dating “trans women?” Because Zinnia Jones really believes that.

Question for you homos: Would any of you be into dating a “Trans Man?” Do you agree with Zinnia Jones that “All genitals are sort of funny looking. It’s just flesh. You can probably deal with it.”? (Thus reducing all the complexities of sexuality to matters of genital anatomy.)

It this type of pure deranged, completely-out-of-touch with reality, delusional rant that is now the norm on the left. And the 21st Century Democrat Party would rather align itself with Zinnia Jones than with the working class normal people of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, or Ohio (the “bitter clingers, as Barack Obama called them). The Democrat Party has become obsessed with social justice virtue signaling to the exclusion of the practical functions of Government. It’s a fairly easy thesis to demonstrate. Democrat-run Illinois is losing population and jobs, but just initiated a massive tax increase. Democrat-Run California, too, just enacted a massive tax increase and is continuing to pour billions into a railroad project that is neither needed nor wanted by the public, but Party Elites need to signal their virtue with regard to the (increasingly discredited) theory of human-caused global warmening.  Democrats insist that the tax increases are necessary, but the low tax states of Texas and Florida seem to be doing OK. Oh, and New York City’s Democrat mayor skipped out on his mayoral duties in order to join Antifa in protesting Donald Trump at the G-20 because that kind of empty symbolism and common cause with violent hate groups is what the party is all about. Democrat policies seem to be designed particularly to drive normal, reasonable people out of the jurisdictions they control.

Indeed, Democrat strategist Mark Penn wrote an Op-Ed suggesting that the Democrat Party might want to maybe refocus on the economic and practical concerns of the middle and working class, and was promptly slammed for it by the party’s virtue-signaling activist base. (Mostly, middle-aged divorced women, or women that never found a man in the first place and are super bitter about it and the type of beta males drawn to leftist politics.)

Donald Trump made a speech in Poland defending the west’s values of pluralistic democracy and basic human rights. The Democrat Left attacked him as a fascist. And then they pushed a fake news story that the first lady of Poland refused to shake hands with him.

A Question for our Age

A Virtue Signaling Uber-Social Justice Wanker asks: “Why Can’t My Famous Gender Nonconforming Friends Get Laid?”

My guess: Because “gender non-conformity” is usually an outward sign of massive psychological issues and very few people are willing to date people with more baggage than Aretha Franklin on a European Tour unless there’s a lot of money involved.

Does Camille Paglia’s example prove or disprove a notion that women shouldn’t vote?

A commenter pointed us to this Weekly Standard interview with Camille Paglia. As in most of her work, she says true and fascinating things – on the way to wrong conclusions. As a sample, here she is on the election:

Hillary, with her supercilious, Marie Antoinette-style entitlement, was a disastrously wrong candidate for 2016 and that she secured the nomination only through overt chicanery by the Democratic National Committee, assisted by a corrupt national media who, for over a year, imposed a virtual blackout on potential primary rivals…

After Trump’s victory (for which there were abundant signs in the preceding months), both the Democratic party and the big-city media urgently needed to do a scathingly honest self-analysis, because the election results plainly demonstrated that Trump was speaking to vital concerns (jobs, immigration, and terrorism among them) for which the Democrats had few concrete solutions…

She has much more to say; RTWT. For example, she slams the transgender movement of today as dupes of Big Pharma:

…the pharmaceutical industry, having lost income when routine estrogen therapy for menopausal women was abandoned because of its health risks, has been promoting the relatively new idea of transgenderism in order to create a permanent class of customers…I condemn the escalating prescription of puberty blockers (whose long-term effects are unknown) for children. I regard this practice as a criminal violation of human rights.

And she covers President Trump’s recent “infrastructure” speech, which indeed was awesome.

But then, whom did Paglia support? (Disclosure: I supported no one; a registered Independent, I came close on Gary Johnson but even he wasn’t good enough for me.) As Paglia explains:

I am a registered Democrat who voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primary and for Jill Stein in the general election. Since last Fall, I’ve had my eye on Kamala Harris, the new senator from California, and I hope to vote for her in the next presidential primary.

Which is downright silly.

In travelling the “alt” opinion world, one occasionally comes across a strange theory that women shouldn’t vote. Here is an example from the vlogger Black Pigeon Speaks (who is center-Left on many issues, but right-ish on immigration, culture and terrorism). For the record: I disagree with the theory (that is, I think women should vote). But I’m going to describe it.

The essence of the theory (which again, I think is a broken theory) is that biology has wired men to take stands on issues and to initiate projects in the world; while it has wired women instead to be concerned with immediate safety and securing benefits from the group (and/or some patron). Because of that, says the theory, women voters over time will drag a country toward both appeasement (of its enemies) and socialism. Which is not good.

Is Camille Paglia evidence for that theory? Here we have a woman with a talent for grasping and expressing truth, yet she still can’t see through the people-destroying ruse of socialism.

Women-Only Spa Uncomfortable With Transgendered People Hanging Out

Posted by V the K at 8:49 am - June 15, 2017.

There’s a spa in Toronto, America’s Hat, that had a strict ‘Women-Only’ policy. This has caused hurt feelings among pretend-women and their virtue-signaling friends who use them as social accessories.

Controversy over a female-only spa’s “no male genitals” policy has reignited debate over the rights of transgender people to access traditionally gender-exclusive spaces, even as the federal government pushes stronger protections prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity and gender expression.

The uproar over Toronto’s Body Blitz Spa prompted a flurry of complaints on social media, with longtime regular Shelley Marshall among those vowing to boycott the luxurious retreat.

Marshall says she tried to bring her transgender friend to the spa last year but was told she would only be welcome at the bathing suit-optional facility if she had undergone sex reassignment surgery.

“I didn’t want to embarrass my friend, I didn’t want to humiliate my friend, I didn’t want all this to happen,” Marshall says of not speaking out at the time. “I’m embarrassed I never stuck up for my friend.”

Toronto-based LGBTQ author Jia Qing Wilson-Yang tweeted last week that she was told not to visit the spa because they “won’t allow male genitalia.”

Here’s a suggestion; the spa should declare that it is only trying to be “Sharia Compliant.” That should shut them up.

Radicalized by a Culture of Hate

Transgender person murdered co-workers because xe hated men.

Pennsylvania supermarket shooter Randy Stair left behind a trove of material explaining his motivations for gunning down three of his co-workers. In his recorded suicide notes, released just hours before Thursday’s rampage, the 24-year-old talked extensively about his depression and about who he was as a person—a transgender woman who hated men and toxic masculinity.

“And I just started hating guys more than anything. I hate guys, I think they’re [expletive] disgusting—the facial hair they have, the body hair, the muscle build, and all that [expletive] body structure [expletive]. I hate. Everything about guys I hate,” continued Stair.

I’d like to say the dude had some serious mental issues, but that would be transphobic.

The sentiments that men are disgusting, that masculinity is toxic, and that all men should be put to death are not uncommon in radical feminist circles.  The idea that masculinity is toxic has wide credence on the left, to the degree that  some universities now indoctrinate male students that they should be ashamed of maleness and strive to be more feminine.

But the anti-masculinity left need not worry about censorship. No one is going to ask them to tone down their rhetoric. It’s not like they’re white southerners or some other animals who are less equal than other animals.

That awkward moment when Lou Reed is doubleplusungood crimethinkful

Old and busted: Lou Reed is so cool. He did a song about trannies that makes the squares uptight!

New hotness: Lou Reed is so bigoted. He did a song about trannies that makes us SJWs uptight!

A student group at the University of Guelph in Canada has apologized for including the Lou Reed song “Walk on the Wild Side” on a playlist at a campus event…

The Guelph Central Student Association wrote “We now know the lyrics to this song are hurtful to our friends in the trans community and we’d like to unreservedly apologize for this error in judgement.”…

In a further statement a spokesperson said: “The lyrics, ‘and then he was a she,’ devalues the experiences and identities of trans folks.

Huh? How?

Points to Ponder

Camille Paglia to genderbending social activists who have anointed themselves the Pronoun Police Gestapo:

“But this political agitation to change everyday, common speech, are you kidding me? People shouldn’t be putting up with this for one second. What kind of nonsense is this? Absolute nonsense.”

“These people who are searching for their own identity, and want to impose on others. That is not my philosophy as a libertarian; that is an invasion, an intrusion into other peoples’ personal rights. The English language is owned by everyone. It was created by great artists. Shakespeare and Chaucer. Wordsworth and Joyce and so on. How dare you, you sniveling little maniac, tell us how we’re going to use pronouns. Go take a hike!”

And a blogger called the Z-Man wonders whether the Social Left’s Gender-bending theatrics isn’t a massive Orwellian game of forcing people to profess that 2+2=5. Either as a means of expanding authoritarian control of society as the natural end-state of progressivism.

A society in which no one knows the rules, except the rulers, is a society that cannot self-organize. It must fall into authoritarianism. In fact, it must embrace authoritarianism, because there must be order. Even the madness of North Korea beats anarchy, where it is a war of all against all. To no small degree, the people pushing the denial of biological reality are doing so in order to expand their authority over the rest of us.

There’s another angle here though, one that is not reductionist. Progressives have been in control of America since the Civil War. The great industrial wars of the early 20th century, then the long Cold War, worked to restrain some of the worst impulses that are let loose when a person or group has unchecked power. Those restraints are gone so all of the reckless tendencies of Progressives can be indulged, seemingly without consequence.

In other words, this reality denying madness we see going on with Progressives, has a late phase degeneracy vibe to it. Most of this nonsense is happening in well insulated compounds like the college campus. The Progs have total control so all of their worst instincts are free to run riot. It’s not some new phase in the long civil war, but the final burst of maniacal lunacy before there is the knock on the door and reality bursts in.

And If That Doesn’t Outrage You…

… The Transgendered are angry because feminist p*ssy hats imply that one can only be a woman if one has a vajayjay.

I am not making this up.

Signs at the Women’s March reading “Pussy power” and “Pussy grabs back” deliver “a clear and oppressive message to trans women.” That oppressive message is: “having a vagina is essential to womanhood.”

Solis goes on to quote a transgender woman who was offended by feminists holding “signs that equate womanhood with having a vagina” — and even more offended by a subset of feminists who point out that “trans women are actually men in disguise trying to infiltrate their spaces.”

Maybe they should just take a Midol or something.

Tranny activist says, “Some women have penises, deal with it.”

“If you’re a woman who only likes women, go ahead, identify as a lesbian,” Dennis says, “but some women have penises. And if the fact that some lesbians might be attracted to those women offends you, it’s because you don’t think trans women are real women.”

“I’m trying to show that preferences for women with vaginas over women with penises might be partially informed by the influence of a cissexist society,” Dennis explains.

I am now convinced that CIS stands for “Cognizant – Intelligent – Sensible.”

In the Transgendered Community, it’s apparently ‘Achievement Unlocked’ if you can get someone fired for not using your preferred pronoun.

I learned it’s illegal in my state to refuse to use someone’s preferred pronoun. Almost every presenter had a story of a time they got a coworker, employee, or boss fired. A speaker (pronouns xe, xyr, xemself) passionately told us of a time when xe had an older coworker who referred to xem as “ma’am.” When xe repeatedly told him xe preferred to be referred to as xem, he responded that he couldn’t, because he had been brought up to be polite and use sir and ma’am.

A quick visit to the supervisor resulted in the coworker being fired. There was standing ovation in the conference hall, with one member of the audience saying how “brave” xe was to enact change. Xe publicly responded that xe “needed to go above his head to get what I needed.”

The left has succeeded in creating a system that punishes people for refusing to deny reality.

George Orwell said, “If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.” I bet he never imagined the boot would be pink with sequins and high heels.

There’s a nutty “scientist” out there who claims that Earth is a prison planet for aliens. If he had gone with ‘Asylum,’ I might be inclined to agree.

Letting Kids Be Kids

What do you think happens when parents don’t turn their kids into props to support a political agenda; don’t use them as symbols of virtue-signaling their support for the latest trendy group of deviants claiming oppression; don’t parade them out in hopes that Ellen DeGeneres, Katie Couric, or their local afternoon-TV equivalents will put them on TV; don’t haul them to therapists who’ve consumed the latest ‘peer review’ literature and determined that every little boy who picks up a Barbie doll is ‘transgender’; and don’t flood their bodies with dangerous levels of hormones and toxic chemicals to subvert their young bodies’ natural processes.

Most of the time, they turn into healthy, well-adjusted adults. (i.e. The villains in the social left’s Passion Play.)

I wanted to be a boy. Desperately wanted to be a boy. I thought boys had more fun. I felt like a boy in the way that our society views genders. I liked blue and green more than pink and purple. I remember sitting up as high as I could climb in our huge mulberry tree, bow & arrow in hand, trying to kiss my elbow (a neighbor lady had told me that if I could accomplish this, that I would turn into a boy, which was what I wanted in that moment, as a child, more than anything.)[…]

In this day and age, I probably could have been labled as transgender. They would cut my hair off short (because, all boys have short hair, right?) I would be given “boy” clothes to wear, blue walls in my room rather than pink, and be told to pretend to have a penis, at least until I could have one surgically added. Had this happened, I can not even imagine how traumatic puberty would have been for me.

Fast forward to age 14/15 (late bloomer here) and I finally started going through puberty. I had never really thought of the opposite sex in a sexual manner before. My attraction was immediately, and is to this day, towards men. At the risk of going all Shania on you, I “feel” like a woman. Had my parents decided, at age 5, that I was a boy, I can not imagine the confusion that I would have experienced during my teen years.

Oh, I think I can.

Has anyone noticed that in the Left’s Push to transgenderize everything, they actually end up emphasizing and highlighting stereotypical gender roles? “Oh, little Emma likes to play with trucks. Emma must a be a transgender boy. Little Chad wants to grow his hair long and wear pink; xe must be a Transgender girl.” It’s kind of like how, by insisting that the phrase “Islamic Terrorism” offends all Mohammedans, they are almost tacitly making the case that all Mohammedans support terrorism.

Shapiro My Hero

Ben Shapiro lays some harsh truth on a precious little snowflake.

Shapiro — after arguing with a young woman about how “gender is not disconnected from sex” — decided to pick a comparable category to prove his point.

“Let me ask you this. I won’t ask you how old – I will ask you how old you are, because you’re young enough that it’s probably not insulting to ask you,” he posed to the young woman, who responded, “I’m 22, so I’m probably a little bit naive, right?”

“No,” he continued. “Why aren’t you 60? Why aren’t you 60? Why can’t you identify as 60? What is the problem with you identifying as 60?”

“It’s not the same as gender,” the young woman countered. “You can’t just…”

“You’re right!” Shapiro shot back. “You can’t magically change your gender. You can’t magically change your sex. You can’t magically change your age.”

Technically there are three — masculine, feminine, and neuter — in languages that have gendered nouns like French, Spanish, and German. (At least until Throbert shows up and corrects me.) There are two biological sexes — male and female. Everything else is delusional.

In related news, the president of the West Virginia University “Gender Equality Movement” went nanners and assaulted conservative students.

During the course of the 42-second video, Denham is able to get out at least twelve f-bombs, and seems to commit at least three physical assaults.
