Feminists: We are strong, empowered, and capable of doing anything a man can do.
Also Feminists: We are too emotionally fragile to handle jokes about lingerie and demand that men be punished for telling them in our presence.
She said she offered to press the floor buttons for people in the elevator, whom she described as mostly conference attendees and all, except one other woman, white middle-aged men. Instead of saying a floor, Lebow smiled and asked for the women’s lingerie department “and all his buddies laughed,” Sharoni wrote in a complaint, the details of which he disputed, to the association later that day.
“After they walked out, the woman standing next to me turned to me and said, ‘I wonder if we should have told them that it is no longer acceptable to make these jokes!” she said in her complaint.
Sharoni, who wrote in her complaint that she has experienced sexual harassment in academe in the past and was shaken by the incident, said it took her a while to figure out that Lebow thought it was funny “to make a reference to men shopping for lingerie while attending an academic conference. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that we froze and didn’t confront him,” she wrote.
Seriously, a dude making a joke in an elevator causes an academic controversy. He apologized, of course, but the offended feminist has deemed his apology insufficient. Such is the rotted state of academia in this country.
“For decades, women and other marginalized groups in the academy had to put up with white men who decided what counts as a violation and what is ‘frivolous,’” she wrote in an email. “As someone who has dedicated her life to confronting sexism (and other forms of discrimination and oppression) in academic spaces, I cannot and will not remain silent when misogyny is at play.”
Another hyperprivileged white woman appropriating the historical struggles of marginalized groups to feed her own grievances.
As bad or even worse are the male cuck academics rushing to condemn the teller of the bad joke to ingratiate themselves to their feminist overseers.
Alleged news network CNN tweeted this this weekend.
Patriarchy is a social system that defines men as being inherently violent, dominant and controlling while rewarding them with power for being that way.
How about this: “Patriarchy, a term made up by left-wing incompetents to explain away their failures in life. See also racism, white supremacy, homophobia/”
The state of Illinois just passed the largest tax increase in its history and is still bankrupt. Murderers run rampant in Chicago. The middle class is fleeing the state in droves. Businesses, too.
You would think a state with all these serious problems wouldn’t have time for anything as idiotic as passing a law mandating schools teach “LGBTQDQ History.” You would be wrong.
I find myself wondering, the LGBTQDQ History curricula mandated in California, Illinois, and other places… does it teach kids the truth? Or does it teach a politically correct mythology?
Are they taught that the Stonewall Riot erupted when police involved in a legitimate law enforcement exercise (closing down a mafia-run bar that was selling liquor without a license) were attacked by a mob? Or are they taught the version that the evil police were harassing gay people and gay people pushed back?
Are they taught that Harvey Milk was a sleazy pederast who preyed on teenage runaways and was a vocal supporter of the Revered Jim “Kool-Aid Cult” Jones? Or are they taught that he was a courage gay political pioneered murdered by a bigot?
Are they taught that AIDS was spread by promiscuous irresponsible sex? Or are they taught that AIDS was caused by President Reagan not saying the word ‘AIDS?’
Does it teach the truth that Matthew Shepard was a drug user who got murdered by his dealer for reasons only tangentially related to his sexuality? Or are they taught that he was a victim of hate and bigotry from intolerant conservatives?
Are they learning history or propaganda, is the question. We know they won’t be learning math, science, and literacy, that’s for true.
“Going through old pictures of the night of Pulse, I remember my struggles of perversion, heavy drinking to drown out everything and having promiscuous sex that led to HIV. My struggles were real !” (survivor Luis Javier Ruiz) recalled. “The enemy had its grip, and now God has taken me from that moment and has given me Christ Jesus.”
“I’ve grown to know His love in a deeper level. 2 out of the 49 were my close friends and are no longer with us. They lost their life that night. I should have been number 50 but now I have the chance to live in relationship and not religion – not just loving Christ but being in love with Christ and sharing His love. I know who I am and I am not defined with who the enemy says I use to be – but who Christ Jesus says I am.”
I can’t say for sure that he has really been changed, and you can’t say for sure that he hasn’t. But the point ought to be, he has made a free choice, for himself, and he isn’t harming anyone else by living as he has chosen to live. His choice ought to be respected. (Even in California and New Jersey, where they’ve made it pretty much illegal to try and change your sexual proclivities because people who don’t want to change feel somehow threatened by those who do.)
“We made a conscious choice to leave homosexuality, and we should be able to do that without being mocked,” said Mr. Doyle.
Good luck with that. The LGBTQDQ are a pretty insecure group of people who use mockery as a way of dealing with people who refuse to conform.
In case you’re wondering, yeah, it will be located around Folsom Street.
I wonder how bad the human feces and drug needle problem is in that neighborhood.
I hope the furries get a cultural district.
Will each of the 1,692 genders get their own Cultural District? Gotta be inclusive, don’tcha know.
Interesting article (a few months old) about how urban planners are designing cities to be uncomfortable for the homeless. Benches that can’t be slept on. Metal studs in places where the homeless like to sleep. It’s kind of a passive-aggressive way of dealing with the homeless when no one in city government has the balls to arrest them or put them in the psych ward.
I’ve seen the article passed around in anti-social media. It attracts the requisite leftie virtue-signaling about how cruel this is to homeless people. My bet is that 99% of the people expressing indignation have done nothing, personally, to deal with homelessness. And the majority of them really don’t understand where homelessness comes from. They buy into the media-promoted sob stories about people down on their luck, or women who claim to have ended up homeless after leaving “abusive situations.” There are a few cases like that, but most of the time, it’s because of mental illness and drugs.
And some lefties get easy jobs with ‘Homeless Advocacy’ groups and get paid money to virtue signal. Like this guy:
“People need to educate, organize, and protect human rights,” Jonathan says. “When you see somebody trying to throw human rights to the floor, you need to stand up and speak up. They say they don’t want homeless people in my town, tell them, ‘Get out of here—the city’s for everyone, not just the people you want.’”
The homeless problem can not be solved by “educating and organizing.” Those are just the kind of things lefties like to do. And, of course, they want to be paid and rewarded for doing the educating and organizing. That approach won’t actually solve the problem, it isn’t meant to. It will create perpetual easy jobs for professional activists, though. And sometimes it involves marching around in front of TV cameras holding signs and shouting. Beats having a real job.
Homelessness never be totally solved because for a certain number of homeless, it is a lifestyle choice. And dealing with the rest of them would involve solutions that are very expensive and would be politically unpopular; building expensive facilities, paying their staffs, and confining people to them until they are fit to live on their own. So, they aren’t going to happen. The virtue-signaling about the homeless, however, will always be with us.
Like 99% of America, I had much better things to do than pay any attention to the White House Correspondents Dinner. PDT also did, holding a rally in Michigan with the common folk rather than go to an event where a bunch of snotty elitist media operatives who hate him (and the people at his rally in Michigan) stand in a circle and tell each other how wonderful and important they are.
And spew hate they did. The leftist media operatives invited a feminist comedian (a term whose value as an oxymoron is exceeded only by “Jumbo Shrimp,” “Deafening Silence,” and “Dodge Ram”) to engage in what the Democrat Left considers comedy: Having their own opinions echoed back at them in a snarky way that reaffirms their social superiority while they respond with forced laughter. Here are some examples of the comedic stylings of the feminist comedian Michelle Wolf:
“Every time Sarah steps up to the podium, I get excited. I’m not really sure what we’re going to get, you know? A press briefing, a bunch of lies or divided into softball teams. ‘It’s shirts and skins, and this time don’t be such a little bitch, Jim Acosta,” Wolf joked. “I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful. But she burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye. Like maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.”
“I’m never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” Wolf continued. “Is it Sarah Sanders, is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is it Cousin Huckabee, is it Aunt Huckabee Sanders? What’s Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women? Ah I Know, Aunt Coulter.”
“[Vice-president Mike Pence] thinks abortion is murder. Which first of all don’t knock it till you try it. And when you do try it, really knock it, you gotta get that baby out of there. And yeah, sure, you can groan all you want, I know a lot of you are very anti-abortion, you know, unless it’s the one you got for your secret mistress.”
If this is comedy, where is the part where I am supposed to, you know, laugh?
You know she didn’t come up with this in a vacuum. All of this was work-shopped with people who assured it was falldown hilarious. Kathy Griffin thought it was funny.
Some media operatives were a little displeased with her monologue. Not because it wasn’t funny. Not because it was just mean. Not because it was vulgar. But because it validated what Trump and Conservatives have been saying about the Democrat Left being mean, vulgar, and unfunny. You’re only supposed to say those nasty things in private when surrounded by fellow leftists, dear.
But at the end of the day, who cares? This whole kerfuffle will be forgotten by lunchtime today. And the only people who even sort of care are a tiny bubble of politicians and media operatives. None of them will change at all, despite their feigned indignation.
