Gee It’s Fun Being a Conservative

February 6, 2021 by Big Mike

  1. MTG
  2. Mike Lindell
  3. Lou Dobbs

Not liking any or all of these members of your own ideological “big-tent” is now a personality-type and brand that we’ve all come to know and love… First of all let me be first in line to tell you how stunning (and brave) it is and just how thankful we are to you for your principled moralizing – it was the one thing that was truly lacking on our own side, so again – Thank you.

By this point in Trump’s Presidency Michael Flynn was being investigated for Russian ties to spark up a 3 year investigation. The federal government was activated against its own boss (The Leader of the Free World) by direction of the Media and DC Establishment through feigned outrage and a constant shouting of “OUR NORMS”. Flash forward to today, right wingers are  debating **checks notes** just HOW MUCH they disagree with a would-be unknown Republican Georgia Congresswoman. Way to keep your eye on the ball conservatives!

We are still neck-deep in a pandemic, Biden has yet to deliver on his promises to give the American people relief, Time Magazine revealed there was a massive coordinated effort which included all major institutions in America to “fortify” the election and republicans are dunking on **checks notes** Mike Lindell (the pillow commercial guy) and Lou Dobbs for being “crazy”. Gee it’s fun being a conservative.

The Relaunch of GayPatriot

February 1, 2021 by GayPatriot

Good morning.

I’m thrilled to announce that the blog formerly known as “GayPatriot”… is back!

If you aren’t familiar with this site, let me give you a brief history of how GayPatriot began.

In the summer and fall of 2004, two prominent left-wing gay activists were “outing” gay staffers who worked for Republican Members of Congress.   These individuals were not public figures, they were public servants.   Many were young and this outing crusade terrified these staffers; they had not told their families or their employers about their sexual orientation.

It was no one’s business except theirs when they wanted to “come out” but the left-wing gay activists decided to terrorize these young people.

So I started the GayPatriot blog to shine the light on this effort and provide a counter-argument to the outing crusade.

The blog began on Blogspot (you follow old people remember Blogspot, right?)… and so some of the original postings are lost.

The GayPatriot blog’s original mission morphed into a platform for gay conservative issues and served as a counterbalance to Andrew Sullivan (who went off the deep end) in the mid-2000s.   Thanks to Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit and the folks at PajamasMedia (now PJ Media), GayPatriot became a go-to mainstream conservative opinion blog.

My original co-blogger Dan (aka GayPatriotWest) joined me early on and provided a fantastic different perspective on news and culture that added more depth to the site than I could have hoped.   Over the years, we have had a variety of other contributors and many thanks to “VtheK” who held down the fort for many years as I drifted away from blogging.

But now we are back.   Why?   Because today’s “cancel culture” reminds me a lot of my original mission to counter the “outing” witchhunt from the Gay Left.   It also seems appropriate to relaunch as the Biden/Harris Administration gets going so this site can revel in the media’s hypocrisy — another theme of the original GayPatriot site.

I’ve invited new contributors to blog with me and they will introduce themselves over the next couple of days.

Please feel free to comment and be an active member of our community.   We accept all inputs and I will have a very light touch on moderating comments — unless you are an asshole.

And as always remember:  Don’t vote with your body parts…. it’s gross.

National Review Institute Summit:
John Hood Discusses Power of Republicans at State Level

January 26, 2013 by GayPatriot

One of the panels today at the National Review Institute’s Summit was “Solutions from the States.” The topics ranged from the transfer of income from high-tax to low-tax states, the impact of pop culture on conservatism and how to change it, and the broad wins at the state level that the Republican Party has had over the past several election cycles.

To that last point, John Hood – President of the John Locke Foundation – spent a few moments with me talking about how the strength of the state-based Republican Party can be translated to national prominence.

The Grand Opportunity Party

January 22, 2013 by GayPatriot

This piece was originally posted by my good friend Billy at the Charleston Tea Party webpage and at RedState.  It is re-posted here in full.

-Bruce (@GayPatriot)

*********

New US Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) hits the nail squarely on the head in this piece for the Washington Post. The Republicans MUST become more effective at presenting the idea of the opportunities that conservatism provides. The GOP no longer needs to be known as the Grand Old Party, but the Great Opportunity Party. Our principles of limited government, personal responsibility, and a desire to make tomorrow better than today, are what make us uniquely qualified to address our nation’s challenges in the most productive manner. We MUST become salespeople of conservative ideals.

What is the opportunity that the GOP provides? We have a belief in the power of the individual to improve their own lot in life. We understand that it is hard work and a desire to learn that allows people to invest in their future. We KNOW that America and our founding principles are what continue to make America that “shining city on a hill” that John Winthrop spoke of as he reached the shores of this great land. I believe that we are at a time for choosing, and we must do as Reagan said, ““Four years ago we raised a banner of bold colors – no pale pastels. We proclaimed a dream of an America that would be a ‘shining city on a hill’.” We’re talking about the same bold colors today – crafting a message of opportunity and then communicating that message eloquently, forcefully, and without apology.

We offer a spirit of entrepreneurship. This idea is not only confined to those that own their own business, it applies to everyone as they seek to do their job to the best of their ability. I remember a store manager early in my career said to me, “Billy, in order for us to be successful, we need to run it like we own it.” He meant to take pride in the job that I did, and if I took ownership of the job I was assigned, I would be rewarded. This lesson paid off, as a short period of time later I entered the management training program. I continued to carry that philosophy throughout my time in the grocery business, and continue it today as I have a small business of my own. Any person can be an “entrepreneur,” whether it is the men and women that keep the office clean, the folks that make the products we use everyday, or the people that take care of us when we go out to eat. Anyone that takes pride in their job, and seeks a way to improve, is an entrepreneur.

We offer a way to invest in their future. The ability of an individual to keep the fruits of their labor is essential to investment. When we speak of “investing,” we don’t mean merely putting money in a 401(k), we mean saving to buy a place that you can call home, to buy books for your children so they may learn, to afford a family vacation so that you can make memories that will last a lifetime. Investment can take on many of these forms, but it is about one fundamental idea, “I want to make tomorrow better than today.”

We know that personal responsibility is essential to success. When you play by the rules and work hard you CAN succeed, however a burdensome government can often make this more difficult. The wages that people earn should not be used to bail out irresponsible business owners and others that have made poor decisions. The ability to fail is essential to success, I have learned far more from my failures, than I learned from my successes. If that opportunity to fail was not there, I would never have learned those valuable lessons. When people make bad decisions in business, they need to be allowed to fail, so that we all may learn these lessons to ensure success in the future. It is much better to learn not to touch a hot stove by watching someone else burn themselves, than putting yourself through that pain.

We have many other reasons for why we truly are the “Great Opportunity Party,” and this is just a start. I challenge each of you to think of ways that opportunity can lead to success, and to become salespeople of these ideals. Change begins at home, and I hope many of you will join us in this fight. We must shout our message from the rooftops, and liberate everyone from the “soft bigotry of low expectations.” We can continue to ensure that America remains that “last best hope for mankind,” but it will take all of us working towards a common goal to get there.

How Conservative Women Confront Media Bias

August 26, 2012 by GayPatriot

I’ve arrived in Tampa and am now blogging from an awesome panel featuring some of the most powerful women in the Conservative movement.

This panel features Townhall.com editor and author Katie Pavlich, US Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, US Rep. Renee Ellmers and Breitbart Editor Dana Loesch.

The format is interesting… clips demeaning Republican women are shown (many are from Bill Maher, shockingly…). Then the panelists respond to the clips and the overall insulting way the media treats Conservative women.

It is a great panel to start the convention for me. All of these women are smart and accomplished and many have had to overcome great professional and professional odds.

Kudos to the organizers of this panel. It is an important topic and very empowering to hear our strong Conservative women stand up for their values and our nation.

Dick Cheney: Conservative of the Decade

December 22, 2009 by GayPatriot

I’m writing this on my iPhone with a new WordPress app. If it works, I’ll be blogging more!!

Yesterday, Human Events declared Dick Cheney to be the “Conservative of the Year.” (read the whole thing!)

In Washingtonian “inside the Beltway” terms, the most amazing aspect of former Vice President Dick Cheney’s new clout is that he is achieving it the old-fashioned way: talking about public policy. He is not running for President or any other office. He has not formed a PAC or a D.C. lobbying firm. He is not dishing on former colleagues, not spreading gossip, not settling scores. He is, instead, writing a memoir about his extensive career in public service, and giving occasional speeches and interviews, mostly on national and homeland security policy, long his central focus.

How is it, therefore, that someone who has no political ambitions can cause so much angst at the White House and in the mainstream news media? The irrefutable answer is that what Cheney is saying, primarily on foreign policy, defense and anti-terrorism, makes sense to more and more American citizens growing increasingly worried by the Obama Administration’s insouciance when U.S. national interests are threatened, both at home and abroad.

I’ll go one further. Cheney is without doubt The Conservative of The Decade and perhaps the most important and influential true American Conservative since Ronald Reagan.

Cheney proves again and again that he has core values and principles that are TRULY conservative and mirror the Founding Principles of this nation.

His devotion to individual American freedom and liberty is so pure that he becomes a progressive on the issue of gay marriage.

History will judge Cheney well. He helped make decisions that needed to be made to save the Republic. And I am confident that by 2012, a majority of Americans will only wish that Dick Cheney was our President or Vice President.

– Bruce (GayPatriot)

UPDATE (from Dan):  The former Vice President is not only, as Bruce noted above, devoted to his country, but also to his family, including his lesbian daughter.  He has treated Mary as we wish all parents to treat their gay children, loving her for who she is, welcoming Heather, her partner, into the family as he has her elder sister’s husband, including that same-sex couple in official events, including three inaugurations.

It is unfortunate that more gay Americans, including the heads of various gay organizations, don’t give this good man his due.  They may not share his politics, but they should at least appreciate his example.

GAYPATRIOT EXCLUSIVE:
Log Cabin Insider Discloses Shocking Details
of Gay GOP’s Tim Gill Connection

February 27, 2009 by GayPatriot

***GAYPATRIOT EXCLUSIVE***

In the wake of the Washington Blade story yesterday suggesting strong ties between Log Cabin Republicans and left-wing liberal activist Tim Gill, I was contacted by a long-time Log Cabin insider.  He is aware of my long-time hunt to connect the money trail between Gill & the “gay Republican” organization.Â

This individual has been a source for many of my Log Cabin-related postings since 2004 and continues to have unprecedented access to the affairs, both past and present, of the national gay Republican organization.  I shall refer to my source as “Lance”, in order to protect his identity.

Lance confirmed the Log Cabin financial dependency on Tim Gill raised in the Washington Blade story.  He personally witnessed money being exchanged between Log Cabin’s National Office and Tim Gill’s political organization in Colorado:

I can tell you that [in early 2004],  I personally saw transfers and checks for $350,000 from Gill Action to LCR.

Lance also confirms suspicions that I have made repeatedly here at GP.org, that the anti-Bush TV ads in 2004 run by Log Cabin were significantly financed by Tim Gill’s money.

Some was sent in and went directly out to the TV stations the other money went to pay the bills and staff.

(Yeah, I feel like saying “I told you so”… but I won’t.)  Sometimes you do live long enough to see yourself vindicated!

Lance also raises questions about the past financial dealings at Log Cabin in 2004-05:

Bill Davenport [another donor] was in for about another $100k (now he won’t give anything) but other monies were sent to a “new” account opened in Virginia — there was at least one of those.  Craig Engle, the counsel for Log Cabin at the time, was determined to hide the flow and never knew I had been aware [of the other account].

I am sure well over HALF the LCR budget came from Gill that year (2004) and the next.  Including many, many more funds that went to Liberty Education Forum [a Log Cabin affiliated group].Â

The troubles at Log Cabin have only just begun, according to Lance.  And they involve former LCR President Patrick Guerriero’s expenses, which I questioned last year:

The melt down over the board is another hurricane brewing.  Someone, not sure who, finally looked at the Patrick Guerriero expense logs and it is a real goat f**k.  Including billing Log Cabin for a trip to Iowa that he (PG) submitted identical billing to the school that invited him to speak!

WHEW.  I appreciate Lance’s candor and courage.  Shouldn’t someone — besides those trying to cover each other’s asses on the Log Cabin board – investigate these allegations since LCR is a membership-driven organization.

Oh, did I mention that Log Cabin Republicans and the Gill Action Fund are both 501(c)(4), non-profit, tax-exempt organizations under the IRS code?

You Scratch My Back…

June 1, 2008 by GayPatriot

How on God’s green Earth can Donna Brazile sit on her spot on the CNN Election Central command center week after week and pretend to be an “unbiased” political analyst?

Yesterday, she was front and center as the most recognizable characters at the DNC Rules Committee meeting.

Is it just me?  Don’t the Objective Journalists(tm) of the world see the obvious conflict of interest?

This is the equivalent of a board member of Bear Stearns appearing on CNN and pretending they were an uninterested observer talking about the subprime mortgage crisis.

It is really sickening to see the increase in the unholy alliance of the US News Media and the DC Political Establishment.
