No war with Russia; Deep State hardest hit

July 9, 2017 by Jeff (ILoveCapitalism)

You know by now that President Trump met with Vladimir Putin, spoke about many issues, established a Syria cease-fire and a working group to prevent either country hacking the other’s future elections.

Apparently, peace with Russia is bad if you’re in the U.S. Deep State because their representatives are squawking.

  • Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) says, “We might as well mail our ballot boxes to Moscow.”
  • Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is butthurt over the prospect of de-escalating the Russia and Syria confrontations, saying we need to defend American “supremacy” and “the New World Order”.

Also, he wants Democrats to have a large say in Obamacare repeal; which means he wants the substance of Obamacare to go unchanged.

  • Likewise, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is all about not moving on, despite “No evidence of collusion that I’ve seen”.
  • And Obama’s CIA director, John Brennan, is so outraged that Trump doesn’t take the Russia hacking narrative at face value (just as I don’t) that he calls Trump “dishonorable” for having greeted Putin politely.

Note: To the extent that Russian election interference happens in the U.S. or elsewhere: I condemn it, and yes we should act to prevent it.

Now, what about Saudi interference in U.S. elections? Or China’s? And what about U.S. election interference in Russia, Germany, Japan, the UK (Obama threatening UK voters over Brexit) and elsewhere? Why are these people outraged so selectively?

Evidence of Trump-Russia collusion?

Trump and Putin shake hands at the G20 meeting

At this meeting, they reached a Syria cease-fire agreement.

HAMBURG — A cease-fire agreement reached Friday between the United States and Russia is intended to quell fighting in southwest Syria and allow anti-government rebels there to focus on the Islamic State, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said…

The fighting has caused an estimated 500,000 deaths and displaced nearly half of Syria’s pre-war population of 22 million people.

In case it needs spelling out: The cease-fire is a good thing, and this post’s title is parody.

Raise your hand if you are old enough to remember when Democrats liked peace, said things like “Politics stops at the water’s edge”, and thought that it would be good if the world’s top two nuclear powers (Russia and the U.S.) could find ways to get along.

I’m old enough to remember when the Soviet Union existed and the U.S. needed to fight their aggressive communism. And I remember that the Soviet Union ended, and that Islam became a threat – to gays especially.

UPDATE: Photo session where France’s Macron shoves his way through, to stand next to President Trump. Macron starts at the viewer’s upper right; Trump lower left.

It made me laugh. I’m not sure why. I did get an impression of a puppy scrambling to be next to the alpha dog. Merkel tracks Macron anxiously; almost like he was supposed to stand next to her? Anyway, it’s a contrast to that famous photo where Obama stood alone with The Wives.
